This will be the 1st time I've missed HRPT since 2007!  Its soooo much fun and something I look forward to every summer.  The wife is expecting our 2nd child the same week so I am going to sit this one out (or be living in the garage the rest of my life, lol).

Talked to my friend that is doing the mill work for my instrument cluster and we are thinking about doing the Bettendorf to Dells, maybe starting in Crown Point if things work out.

For those planning only going for a day or two here is a link to the schedule and route info. I'll be at the Dells with my Bird. I'm not sure if I'm going to head towards the Sauk Prairie area and watch to just hang out at Chula Vista. Give me a shout if ya see me!
Oh, my buddy may have his black 84 up there as well. Looks similar to mine except for louder and bigger tires. LOL

Do we have to pre register for anything or can we simply show up and drive with the group to the next venue.  I am specifically thinking about taking the 13th off and joining the group in Bettendorf IA and driving to WI Dells.  I don't know if I'll stay the night or simply drive home.  It will only be about an 2 hour drive home.  But this does sound like  a good time.  I have never done anything like this before.

You can pretty much do what ever you'd like. If you see a group that you'd like to cruise with you can just jump in and follow along. I think that's one of the cool things about HRPT is that it's really what you make of it. There is a suggested route but you can do whatever you feel would be the most fun for you.

Some people take the route and stop at all the sights along the way. Others will bust ass to get to the next venue as quickly as possible.

Since I'm in Madison, I think I may cruise up that way late morning and look for a spot to chill  at Chula Vista while watching the cars roll in.

I am jealous of all who are going!  Power Tour is something I look forward to every summer!  Oh well I guess the birth of child #2 is more important, right?

I forgot about this until I got home last night. 15 min drive for me but it was 6:30 pm and it would've been pretty much over by the time I would've arrived there

Sounds like fun to me, even if it is in a big ugly truck. lol

I am still thinking about trying to take Friday off and meet up with the run in Maquoketa or Dubuque. If you are out there and see a  red 1993 SHO or the blue Cougar in my avatar (It belongs to my brother now) flag me down. - Joe

I took the day off and went to IA to join in the last day of the tour.    If I can say this, it was a blast.  The most fun I've had for a while.  Certainly beats the heck out of a day at work.    I thought it was great that as we pulled into these small towns, there were people lined up on both sides of the streets making it kind of like a parade as we went through town.  As we went through Dodgeville, WI, there were probably 75 - 100 of us in a line as we came into town.  A great feeling to be a part of that.  A bunch of us pulled into the Culvers there and kind of took over the place.  We certainly filled most of the parking lot.    Getting back on the road and finishing in the Dells I took a shot from the windshield looking forward.  The GPS said 1 mile to Chula Vista and all you could see was hot rods and classics lined up for as far as I could see both in front and behind me.  I paid my registration fee and joined in the car show at Chula Vista.  As you can imagine, tons of great cars.  I was actually going to take the Turbo with me, but unfortunately I lost the brakes on my way home from work on Thursday so till I get a few minutes to look into the problem, the Turbo was garage bound.  My mustang did a great job as expected.  I even had fun rattling the exhaust with some of the others as we came into these towns.    Spent some time wandering around the event at Chula Vista when I got there.  Took tons of photo's and just made a great day of it.

Wanted to ask if anyone from the forum was there.  I saw a four eyed Courgar all painted blue with double white stripes driving around.  I saw it twice, I tried to see if it parked somewhere I wanted to go look at it but I didn't see where they parked or if they even did.    Oh well,  Nice car from what I could see of it.  Here are some of my pics from the adventure.    I think I might try to do this again if it ever gets anywhere within driving distance of me.    May some year I'll be a long hauler.

The blue cougar was my Brother, a friend and myself. We got to Dubuque right as the tour was coming into town. We headed to Bellevue and it was almost constant tour cars coming at us. Quite the sight. We parked in Bellevue for an hour or so and sat along the river and watched the cars come thru town. Then we headed out and went as far as Dodgeville WI and stopped at the culvers for some ice cream. My brother had to be back in town by 4 so we headed back to Monona from there. I agree, it was a blast and really would like to do the long haul some time. I know that we did not see all of the cars, but we did not see any other fox birds or cougars out there.

The cougar is a little rough around the edges, rust, dings, and dents, but does still turn a few heads at highway speeds.  I painted it 17 years ago for my buddy shortly after I painted my bird. Years later I acquired the car with no motor or trans from him for some paint work on his 67 cougar. I ran it for a couple of summers but got tired of the tired aod I had in it and decided it was going to be interior parts for my t-bird. My brother decided it needed rescued and now it is his. He has a carbed 302 w/roller cam, cast iron renegade heads, bbk long tubes and h pipe, 5 speed with 8.8 rear.

I'll be at HRPT next year!  Thanks for sharing the pics!  I agree the best part of the HRPT is rolling through all the small towns and seeing all the people sitting in lawn chairs waving at you.

I was there. We didn't end up getting on to the grounds until around 2:00. I was a bit frustrated with the parking situation and ended up not registering for the show. Once we walked from the parking lot to the show we had more fun. The wife and kids actually spent a few hours in the water park while I perused the cars and trucks with my dad.

I can't wait for next year. I sure hope that Family Events and Chula Vista work to solve their parking issues for 2015!
