Quite a few Mustang guys have done it. Same concept, except our cars look better.

Thanks. It's pretty obvious, but some people are jaded by the word "Mustang" and can't see the truth.

I love the way my fox bird looks just the same as my mustangs

I have a big soft spot for that era

I know this is old.  But maybe by now has anyone done or know of someone that has done the Coyote 5.0 swap in a Cougar or Thunderbird?

I've seen a pic of one put into a 2004+ Ranger

Not yet, but I hear the price is getting pretty reasonable for the Coyote swap pack.  :)

$7500 for the crate motor, PCM included.

If only I could afford it, not to mention talk the finance manager into letting me, I'd love to do that swap but with a few additional goodies  to boot.

I've been wanting to do this swap, but I have too many coals in the fire at the moment.

I watched those sealed crate motor Coyotes run in Coyote Stock at Bowling Green earlier this month and was amazed. That's some high rpm screamin' machines right there.
Those are supposed to be production line engines sealed by Ford.
The rev limiter I believe is set around 7500 or so, and the NMRA techs check the flash tune to make sure everyone has the same exact tune ( from Ford Racing)

The quickest pass I saw was 10.3x something at 129 mph.
Pretty amazing, if in fact those are production line ( untouched) Mustang engines.

My biggest problem with my cougar is that the 3.8 Is just running too good to take it out. :-P.  Thanks to ford they make good stuff!  Also I would be more comfortable if I could have some one else do it first.  I'm guessing that you could use a mustang aftermarket K member in the cougar with little or no modifications.  But I don't know about other clearance issues.

Maybe someday.

But the Coyote is nearly four 3.8 motors in one succulent morsel!

How about a used coyote 5.0 from a the 2011 up F150.....its down 40ish HP....but can be purchased for $2500 all day long with low miles....

I love the power and sound of a coyote....just physically such a big engine...

I see Ford making other updates to this engine moving-forward. I'd want to wait until the Coyote gets into a more finalized state (and of course lower pricing). With the federal fuel economy requirements needed to be met over the next 10-years, either the Coyote will vanish, or some efficiency improvements will be added to the motor, in additional to the chassis updates.

I'm curious if there are loopholes for "fleet fuel economy averages" - could they simply release multiple small models that no one buys, or do they account for sales? I don't see Fiestas pushing 80mpg to help even out the 25mpg Mustang averages over the 4/6/8 cylinder engines. The Coyote would need to have some improvements to help Ford meet upcoming requirements. Efficiency also can mean more power!

I imagine the Coyote will get direct injection at some point. Are you wanting the DI Coyote, or the current (cheaper) Coyote once the DI version comes out? I imagine it'll be a while before the DI Coyote is reasonable to purchase. 440+ hp that is dead nuts reliable would suite me just fine at this point.

I'm pretty sure it is sales related.

Mustang intake manifold and intake cams brings the 40 hp back.
