Can u drive a aod in the d position without using overdrive ? And will it blow the tranny without using that bar
I basically was driving and my throttle got stuck wide open and I couldn't stop and the car spun out and I crashed and when I looked the bar was holding my throttle open so I took it off and been driving in just d so I only have 3 gears now will that blow my tranny if I only use 3 gears and not install that bar back?? And by the way I don't care if I don't have overdrive I just need my cars tranny not to blow cuz it's my only car ... Thanks any info could help please
The throttle valve cable controls all the pressures in the AOD, it's recommended not to drive without it.
We'll mine is carbed and has the bar that runs down to the tranny not a cable is that the same think basically
Yes it's the same thing, carbs and TBI used a rod, MPFI used a cable. Driving an AOD without that hooked up, even if only once, WILL ruin the transmission.
So that bar has more to do then just down shifting when passing someone it's got a lot to do with pressure for the tranny .... I no u can drive it around in just d and not use the overdrive in city I didn't no not using that bar would cause a pressure problem
It controls the pressure of the fluid inside the transmission. With it disconnected, you'll burn up the clutches and soon you'll be stranded.
Better to not drive it until you can replace it and adjust it properly.
x2. more then likely your trans is already shot if you have been driving with it disconnected.
really should not be much to freeze up on that linkage.
Thanks guys
