Were they not available those 2 years? I have yet to see one with them.
I have em in my 84 Élan
Where are the switches?
On the door panel almost behind the door handle

Wow, that is a weird place for them. And in the same place on the base and the high end panels?
Yup, some ergonomics engineer got paid a lot of money to stuff em back there.
IMHO, power locks on any 2 door Ford are unnecessary, as you can open the door from the inside by pulling the handle.
my 83 Heritage has them, although the passenger one has been removed.
Wouldn't mind finding a replacement :/
Actually they're nice to have because then you can add an aftermarket remote keyless entry system like I did with my '88. RKE is a very nice feature to have, especially when it's g rain and you don't want to fumble with a key hole in the dark. I've actually added aftermarket power locks to most vehicles I've had without 'em, including my old Cherokee and Dakota, just to be able to add the RKE feature.
