has anyone seen a front wheel bearing where the outter bearing retainer (or cage) is made of plastic?
My son has these up front and was wondering about them.
never seen this before.
That's how mine were before I replaced them last year. It seems to me that the factory outers were like that, but all the replacements I've ever seen were steel.
Yes, factory were plastic on some model years. When they go bad they make a howl which is incredible. :)
Replacements are all steel, thankfully.
interesting,,
i examined the spindal, i am going to slide on an inner race and see if it binds up. if it does not due to wear allowing the existing inner race to "spool" round, then i will likely have to add some form of shim stock to put the inner race back in a stationary bind.
otherwise, another less worn set of spindals are required.
on my white coug, i repaired both of them up front like this using a piece of copper wire laid on spindal where the inner bearing inner race will reside, like you would situate "plasti gauge" on a journal.
i used a tiny piece of 18awg single strand and it seemed to bind up the inner race really nice.,, but i had to use a dead blow to get the rotor on, thats fine though because the copper flattened out im sure and the rotor sounded really nice when done.
Ive seen them on trailers when they fail. I replace them with all steel. I got good stock spindles if you want them.
hmm, thats two things you got that i could use.
pm me with cost and to include that cruise cable kit.,,, thanks!!!
You make the price shipped, I'm pretty set at what it cost to ship.
