Allison had that thing molded to the case of the standard transmission, thats what the military had on thier IED route clearance "Husky" (the older original south african model painted green)... the new(er) versions of husky had an automatic.

well, that thing broke off and i had to figure out how to get it "FMC" in army terms
Lots of riggin later but i ended up with the similar design where i drilled the transmission and machined a new fixture to accept the "snap in" fork.

the only difference in my case compared to your transmission is that I pressed in a chunk of Grade8 steel tubing, then i tapped it out to accept the ball fitting.

what a py design,,, in your case.

from your pic, one of two things...........
the whole assembly is just simply too long and it subject to snaping due to the pressure angle
or,,,
the threaded portion is / could be a thicker diameter,, means a redo on the housing to make a larger threaded hole, also means a new ball fitting.

It would be sweet if a grade 8 threaded rod could be machined on the end to the ball specs then the 5/8'' threaded rod attached to the housing with loc tight.

or.....
i may be wrong because this is the intended weak link....?

Nissan changed the design the year later. The Clutch fork and ball is now redesigned with a shorter ball and throw out bearing. But the NEW BALL i installed is from my buddy at the old BOB SHARP race shop in BETHEL. He has the new ones made stronger. The UP DATED balls wont do this any more. Thank GOD for UP DATED BALLS!!!!
