so, im not experienced doing this.
any hand holding or suggestions as to how the gear is installed, special tools that may be required, measurements needed to be taken ect would be helpful.
going into an 88bird sport with a tag that says its a 2.73 7.5 rear.

Ok, here's a little tip.
When you get the pinion bearing removed, ask them to keep the bearing intact and take it home with you. Take a small drum sanding disc and lightly sand the inside of the old bearing until it slides on and off the pinion shaft easily. Use that bearing on the new pinion to get/set the proper pinion depth. Once that is achieved, keep the shims on the shaft and install the bearing.

i need to use the old bearing to set the depth, got it,
do i use a feeler guage or what...
or is this a little more over my garages capacity.
i have dial indicators. calipers ect ect and lots of cool tools and im willing to do it myself.
this would be my son's 88 sport 5.0
