Title: Brakes
Post by: Go Roush on June 19, 2005, 10:19:09 PM
Need help with a brake problem on my buddys 86 Cougar w/3.8L
He has put two master cylinders on it and after a few weeks of driving the pedal starts getting soft again. Just wondering what some of your thoughts might be on the problem. Thanks

could easily be a slow leak in the brake lines. Check the brake booster as well. could be rotted hoses too.

Is there a special way to checkthe brake booster without jusyt replacing, because there a little on the expensive side.

Check the rear brake adjusters, both to make sure they work and to make sure they're properly installed (left and right adjusters are unique). Also check the caliper sliders, and the front wheel bearings - a wobbling rotor will push the caliper pistons back in their bores and cause a soft pedal.
