I ran the id tag number on the transmission I just pulled from a 351W that was in a ford ranger. Id number was 1352-246. It said 94 5.0 v8 WC when I ran the tag. My question is can I use it with my 302 from a 91 mustang? Is there any problems about where the transmission mounts to cross member? I know when i cut my hole in the floor board, I will have to have the hole about 1 inch back than normal. I also have a drive shaft that will have to cut down also from a police crown vic. Anything else?

Get the cutch/pressureplate and throw out bearing ordered for a 94-95 mustang 5.0.
If your going from an aod, you need a flywheel, any 87-95 mustang should work. You will need a min-style starter, 91-93 mustang.
I re-used my stock aod crossmember, trans mount and driveshaft.
I used the 3.8 bell, which uses a 164 tooth fly wheel, opposed to the mustangs regular 157 tooth. This ment I had to run a 80's ford truck flywheel, clutch/pressure plate and 92 up 5.0 or 5.8 ford truck starter.
I was told that tranny from an SN-95 will work if you also use the bell housing as well, and it'll set your shifter back just a wee bit.
+1 on what Vinnie said.
This is a good read on the history of the T-5 and a good site for parts:

Another good read on the differences and swaps:

The thing that would probably give me heart burn is the location of the clutch fork on the 94-95 cars being at the 7-8 o'clock position rather than the 9 o'clock position of the 85-93 T-5's. That would just be an exhaust issue more than anything but like anything else it can be worked around.
Darren
My stock exhaust fit fine. I think shortoes would too. It only sticks out maybe one inch past the bellhousing.
One other thing to remember is that the 94-95 T-5's don't have the NSS on them like the earlier models.
Darren
They use a oss on the 99-04s.
The 94-98 should be compatable with the stock t-5 or aod sensor. Might need to swap.the speedo.gear.

Some light reading on vss vs oss.
They say a vss is used on 94-98s.
I had a vss from eariler model and local parts house said it was the same for the 94. In the first picture you see a plug on the driver side with two pr0ngs on it. I know if had the reverse lights hook to it, is that all that is? Not a NSS too? Will not having a NSS affect the A9P I am going to use? Once I figure out what gear my friend put in the 9inch rear end I will get the right gear for speedo.
The NSS is the neutral safety switch and you can bypass the one on the tranny and on Fox car as it will still start and run just fine. I know for a fact you can bypass the one on the tranny as mine is this way. I have attached a pic of a Fox T-5 which has the NSS on the top plate. The 94+ cars do not have this.

Ok, thanks, I will probably be the only one driving it, so I hope I never start in gear. Will the A9P have to see anything in order to crank?
Unless you have a 87-88TC...the non-hydrolic 86-93 mustang setup maybe a better idea....perhaps easier.
Travis
Is the 94-95 mustang clutch action hydrolic or standard cable?
79-95 are cable style and use the same cable and quadrant, 96-04 are cable style and use the same cable, & 05+ are hydraulic.
Darren
Really?? The 98' Cobra T-45 I have is cable operated. I just bought a Clutch fork for it and it said from 96' up to 04'. 05' + were hydraulic.
For some reason i think the upper switch also controls the CRUSE CONTROL. I had an issue some time back with an ECM smoking out from a guy that did a conversion. Cant remember what i did. Because the midnighter and my mustang will start in gear with the clutch depressed and the tranny in gear. Just a thought
