Has anyone had any experience with a Vortech s trim on a 86 5.0 efi? good or bad ? My friend has an S-trim sitting around he just went to a 427 turbo engine in his mustang, He was saying if i put the money into the parts to mount it he would throw it on what you guys think?
Go for it boosted v8 are fun
Do you even have a h.o. motor?
The heads and cam will be quite restrictive for a centrefugal supercharger imho.
I wouldn't be against buying it and waiting until you can use it though. I'd at least do a quick h.o. swap and intake/exhayst just so that you can get a good bit out of it. You'll want a good fuel pump, larger injectors and maf/chip before you could really use it.
In my experience, there is no "throwing on" of a supercharger.
The cost of the head unit & brackets is a fraction of what it takes to bring the supporting systems up to snuff!
I had a Powerdyne supercharger on my stock engine for a few years before i went turbo. I made the brackets myself from some s metal and a chevy truck belt tensioner. It's definitely worth doing. Made way more power. The car ran 14 flat in the quarter on that setup.

I'd be worried about fuel...
I doubt the stock computer could compensate for it. 19lb injectors are almost maxed on a stock h.o. and they are on a mild setup. I doubt the 14#ers would have much over stock.
I have always wondered what a blower would be like on the s.o. cam though.
Blowers are not the hot setup. Turbo cars are where it is at. It takes HP to run a BLOWER. The new Vette uses 120HP to drive the blower. Turbo cars always make more HP than a blower. But and i know this will cause a BUZZ. Ford engines will not respond the way you would think with a blower. The heads are to small and they flow rather bad. Ok now you can POUND ME!!
NOTE a 21 LB injector at 43 With a 80% can sustain 260-270 HP Give or take a little. Not to many 302 engines that are over injected with 19 LB injectors Just saying!!
I do agree a boosted 302 would need bigger injectors than 19. Like 24 would be a ball park. As stacks points out a 19 is way to small for a big HP 302
That's why you run a fmu
I have one for 19's $50 shipped
My boss's stang only dyno's 260hp at the wheels with a blower and 19# injectors. He isn't limited by air...
I agree with you tom. But I think i'd go blower over a turbo, just personal preferance. I've always dreamed of a kennebell sitting ontop of a lil 302.
I had a wide band monitor on mine and it maintained stock air fuel (14.6) with no modifications to the fuel system right up to about 8 PSI on the charger. Although stock AFR is not considered ideal on boosted cars, it doesn't pose any threat to a motor with a compression ratio of 8.9:1. I know this because I performed a compression test on the motor after 3 years of abuse from the supercharger and it still had healthy even compression. When I first switched to turbo it would run lean as boost went higher. To remedy this, I swapped out the 14 pound injectors for 19s, dropped base fuel pressure, added an FMU, and a walbro 255. This was something I kind of rigged up with parts I had lying around to get the car on the road the night I finished the turbo install, but it runs so good I haven't had to mess with it since. Wanna see an 88 Thunderbird with no engine work and a $500 pieced together turbo kit spank a bolt-on LS1 Camaro? Check out my YouTube channel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKznNBTTzcE (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKznNBTTzcE")This was on only 7psi.
You'd be surprised what you can do with very little. This car still stands up to a two hour round trip commute to work every day and endures 8 hour track days. The proof is in the pudding.
You'll be fine on low boost and you'll make tons of power for cheap!
going for atleast 24 lb injectors ported e7 heads and h.o cam installed before hand of installing the charger maybe e303 cam
and nice youtube video :)
we also have the brackets and pulleys just need the pipe work

I agree with you on that. Nothing impressed the car show guys more than a 671 sticking through the hood. Just an awsum feeling. But hands down a TURBO makes much more HP. Thanks
Very true. That's why I switched. Turbo has less parasitic losses and also allows you to run as much or little boost as you want with the turn of a . On the other hand, if someone was giving me a supercharger and offering to help install... that's a no brainer. You won't be dissapointed!
perfect that's all i needed to hear bryan :P one day the cougar will WHINE! lol
