I have read some other threads and still not sure, so here it goes I have a 83 thunderbird, V8 car. I have a 302 from a 91 mustang with no motor mounts. I called the local parts place and can get some v8 motor mounts for thunderbird, but will they bolt up to the new 302 block? I can get the mustang ones but they are a different part number, so which ones? On a budget so the ones from parts house will have to do over the chuck mounts.
Yes, they will bolt up. You're good to go.
All 302/5.0s have the same mounting points on the block.
Another thing to consider, the 83-85.5 cars have a very similar motormount and k-member to the fox body mustangs. You get swap those in for quite a bit cheaper. I find them on classified locally all the time for cheap.
Funny you should be talking motor mounts. I just got the OK to resume progress on the COYOTE project. So in went to install the engine on the custom sub frame. That was my plan. Not good though. The mounts are wrong. Come to find out the chassis builder installed the wrong frame mounts. He installed the mounts for a 5.0 Not a coyote. So i have to fab up some mounts. Now i am hung up on installing factory mounts or just fab up solid mounts and be dun with it. My gut feeling is to use the stock mounts and fab from there. It would be easier to make solid mounts but they tend to be to stiff and vibration is an issue i would think. I have used solid mounts in the past but not for a street driven car. I am hung up on this and if anyone wants to chime in be my guest. Thanks
You've mentioned the Coyote swap, but I don't see a thread on it. Please remedy that.:p
I think I've decided the Coyote swap is my next vaporware swap. Seems pretty straightforward, except maybe hood clearance.
Please do make a new thread tom :). I'd like to see that.
Love to see the timeline and pictures of doing coyote project for sure.
I used motor mounts for a 93 5.0 Mustang to put the 302 in my '83 with the stock M-member.
