Title: Question about Input Shafts for C4
Post by: Soul on February 28, 2013, 11:37:19 AM
Well tore apart my t-bird this weekend and I sheared the input shaft off in the torque converter. Pulled the trans apart and put it back together to make sure there wasn't any damage but in the process I had to use an input shaft from a different trans. The new input shaft has a thinner spot in the middle but was 26 spline and fit with no problems. Only thing I can figure is that it was from a newer trans and that this might be an oil change? See pic below, just wondering if it would be weaker than what came out of there.

Not sure if its any help but I found this:

But I also found this which makes me think it is a hardened shaft which is a bonus:
