Title: Not a fox, but it was cheap!
Post by: canadiancarguy on February 27, 2013, 01:43:37 AM
I picked up a slightly rusty 83 Chevy S10 lowrider truck for $1700 the other day. It has a carbed 305 with a TH350 trans. The thing is pretty tired, has blowby and other problems, the edelbrock carb being one of em. It came with a stock 400 small block from a truck that was running propane. I have a set of pro comps, mug thumpr cam, air gape intake, quickfuel manual secondary 750 carb, 1.6 rockers a nice rad with fans just sittin in the shop that I bought for another project I ended up selling. Any idea how the 400 will run with this stuff? I never had a small block chev before other than 305s that were just as doggy and tired and a soso 283 in a camaro. Got the interior gutted (leaking from the roof antenna, thought it was the windshield), and the suspension needs attention. Will post some pics tomorrow.

If its pink, i'd assume it was for her too ;).

We had several propane powered trucks at my last work. They ended up bypassing them all or just running them on gas instead. There's a bit less power and sometimes they have to start off of gas and switch over after a coupleseconds.

In utah, propane for cars is regulated at $1.27 a gallon, so I would jump on it if you had the complete setup.

Here are a couple shots of the cab and box being worked on. After looking everywhere online for cab mount cups I went to the local gm dealer and they had em in stock go figure....

Here is the chassis getting fixed up. I like to use rubberized rock guard paint mixed with gloss black acrylic enamel paint to add gloss. I prefer spraying rock guard over rubberized undercoating. I will be using a gloss black polyurethane enamel (Cordoba Rust Scat) paint for under the cab and engine bay. Anyone use a hardener or catalyst with polyurethane paint?? If so what kind, I have some acrylic enamel hardener but not sure if that works with polyurethane.

The body mounts were rough so I got some steel washers and welded em on to level the cab with the box.

Cool Truck! Those floorpans look decent.

I rarely ever see any northern vehicles around which are older than 10-15yrs and are not rusted out POS's. Nice Score there!

I can't wait to see how it will look with a rino lined floor.

No, just a 400 small block. I can't afford nice stuff like that:) I am kinda into old carbed v8s right now, getting sick of the turbos.....
