So we recently took the transmission out of my Turbo Coupe and the front bearing retainer on the transmission is worn out. I ordered a steel retainer for a V8 model and took it to a machine shop, but there isn't enough material to maintain the structural integrity after doing the machine work. Now we're on the hunt for a retainer and are having trouble finding one. Does anybody on here know where to look? I'll be flying out of the country in 2 weeks so I don't have a whole ton of time :( . Thanks for your time.
Do you need a steel one or a stock one?
Doesn't matter either way
I have a stock one it has some wear but it will do the job I could get it out to you for cheap

I don't think there was a steel version of the 4cyl retainer...
They've been out of production for several years, good luck...
You know what now that I think of it I don't remember what this came off of sorry man
Iv blown so menny 4 and 8 t5's I want to say this is a 4 cyl but I can't find any info on the part numbers
I used a lot of 4 cyl ones in one of my old v8 mustang went 13's pretty much stock but they never lasted long lol

I have one from an 88 TC T5 if you're interested
Stang8u, the main way to tell the difference is by flipping it over.

The one on the left is the TC retainer, and you can see that the ring has a thinner wall.
88turbo - what kind of shape is it in?
Yea sorry seems to be a v8
Hope you find one
No problem, thanks! We'll reuse my old one for now, if necessary.
I have one in excellent shape, I can get pics this weekend.
That would be greatly appreciated. Let me know.
Another question....do the turbo T5s use ATF or gear oil?
ATF or SAE 30
Great thanks. I had gotten some Mobil 1 ATF but then read that the WC T5s use ATF while the non-WCs use gear oil. Wasn't sure where the oddball turbo T5s landed in that.
I have non-WC and it should be filled with ATF too (according to user's guide).
