Are the sensor for 87' 5.0's and 3.8's the same?
i would not tell you anything i wouldnt try,,
yes , swap them but you can always confirm the pn agains what your parts store lists.
get motorcraft if you can
there are physical mounting difference across various vehicles but the 3.8/5.0's have all been the same for mounting that i can determine.
the 2.3L turbo tps's have an eliptical mounting hole pattern iirc so you can dial in less than one volt on the green wire "after" you barely snug down the screws for proper adjustment. yep, i just told you how to "set" it. use a chainsaw / round file to oblong out the mounting holes on your new tps "if" when you mount it and you find that there is 1v or more on the green wire.
i usually run my grinder up on my meter lead tips to keep them dangerously sharp just so i can prop insulation easy and leave the very least and tiny penetration on a wire.
When you put the TPS on just make sure it reads between .67 and .99 volts with the throttle closed. As long as the TPS is in that range the computer is fine with it. The "magic .98V" setting is BS.
This is totally a guess. But the 87 3.8 is the old TBI setup. I would think the tps would be different from 86-88 5.0

the CFI and TB tps sensors casing are set up the same and doing identical voltage divider jobs.
the escort tps's are very different, i have one of those in my parts o plenty
