Title: Matt & Debbie Hayes Thunderbird
Post by: Thunderbird88 on October 24, 2012, 05:28:09 PM
I can imagine how many threads there's been about this car but I have to ask, does anyone know where it is today?
Last I saw it was when it was for sale on Ebay where it was standing in somebodys living room.
Did it get sold? If so, for how much?
And lastly, does anyone have pictures of this beautiful machine? :)

It's in SW PA. a little place called Vanderbilt.

The car is still in his house and he is looking for a low milage 88 Turbo Coupe "black", to park beside it.

My wife talks to his wife and we got invited to look and take pictures.

Seems like it's getting taken care of at his house :)
Did they ever race it on the track during the 90's when it was built or was it just a show/street car?

It was built just for show,"Hot Rod Car of the Year" for 1988.

I'm sorry I just don't get parking that thing in your house and using it for furniture.  I'd think I'd be driving it!! (After repainting it from that awful pink, lol).  I did build a model kit of that car back in the day and painted it white instead of pink.

Didn't that car have twin turbo's?  Pretty radical stuff for '88.

If I had it I'd have to take it to some shows. Drive it to the local ones occasionally then trailer it to the farther ones. To me it would have to stay pink. More people would recognise it that way.

I see this is an old post but wanted to reply Matt and I bought the car back in September 2013. Follow some of what we have done along with pics on our Facebook page.  In our opinion it looks better than 1988! We have some 25 year ok technology to update though. Work in progress...

I saw it, awesome. I also remember it from back in the day when it was new when I bought my first new Bird back in November of '87. Welcome to the forum Debbie. We're glad to have you join us.
