Title: Shocks
Post by: dragon574444 on September 16, 2012, 08:06:05 PM
Who makes a good strut for a reasonable price? I'm looking for the fronts on my 84. I'm looking a nice, soft ride. It's my DD, not a racecar. Thanks!

Monroe Sensatrak or KYB.

I have Gabriels on mine, but I have heard that they don;t make them any more.  Not having had to replace them in the last few years, I don't have first hand knowledge of this however and could be merely a rumor.

How would you guys rate the ride quality with the shocks you have?

Wow, Rockauto actually has Motorcraft struts in stock. I didn't think they were still being made.

I have Motorcraft on mine, they are around 10 years old and 25k miles.  Still do the job quite well!

I'm full coil overs but when I had the KYB's they were fine for a DD with little to no expectation for handling the curves.

I've got Monroe Sensatracs all around. The ride is firm and smooth but not stiff or jiggly. I think it rides nice.

The Gabriels do very well on my TC in her current form, though not as well as the last set of Koni's I had on her....sadly, they are no longer made.  When I install the IRS and SLA, I'll be using Bilstein rebuildable coil-overs on all four corners.

I've only used KYB on my car so, I really have nothing to compare them to. The KYB's have been good to me.
