this is what I have been looking at for my 88 TC http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp&part=CCA%2D70%2D131%2D5&SearchType=Engine&N=150+4294925005+4294869676&appfilter=1&view=32 (http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp&part=CCA%2D70%2D131%2D5&SearchType=Engine&N=150+4294925005+4294869676&appfilter=1&view=32) would that be too much for an everyday driver? I have heard that the roller rockers from a ranger 2.3 will free up some hp anyone done this? just looking for a bit of advice. Thanks Graham
its not much bigger than stock
take the cam out of a ranger, and take the rocker arms, get a cam pulley and retart the cam timing 2-4 degree's
Shawn, that cam is way more than the stocker, and a lot more than I'd try to run on a everyday 4 cyl. The stock cam is something like the Motorsport A231(220*@.050 and .400 lift), and maybe not even that. I ran the A231 in my first TC and lost some bottom end, but it pulled good from 2500-5500.
Graham, the Ranger roller rockers are only compatiable with the roller cams. I'm 99% sure you'll have problems if you try to use them on a slider type cam. You'd likely be a lot happier using the Ranger cam as suggested.
really? i must have misread the stock cam specs someone posted on turbo ford, because i could swear the duration wasnt much different, and lift was a touch bigger, but the lobe separation was what was different
i stand corrected, i got a bit more reading to do
when changing to the RR cam do I also need to replace the lifters with the ranger lifters for the roller cam?
