its a daily driver, i enjoy driving it, but not necessarily enjoy fixing stuff under the hood. so when the missing and stalling kept getting worse i figured i better have a look see. i had changed plugs a while ago so i knew that wasnt it. luckily within 2 minutes of the hood being open i spotted my coil wire at the dist cap was loose. when i removed it dusty crud all fell out of it. well i cleaned up the terminal, popped a wire on ( with some dielectric grease) and its good as new again. I was getting ready for another 4 page long thread of unsolveable driveability issues, and it was something simple after all.
lifes good again!
It's the simple fixes that bring the most joy. lol
The thing that seems to get me, is that my mind likes to tell me that "It wasn't that long ago, I put those in or that I tuned it up, ect.. When in fact, it's been years. Kinda like when my mind is always telling me I'm still twenty.....
My mind is a filthy, filthy liar also.
I too seem to have a problem in regards to forgetting the last 15 years have elapsed without my knowledge. getting old(er).
well, i spoke too soon. car was missing again today. its not wet outside either. i guess i will do the rest of the plug wires. they are the originals.
ok now its fixed. i replaced the rest of the wires with oem motorcraft wires. a couple of them had rubbed through under the intercooler. my latest test drive had no missing and was a hoot!
As many sets of wires as Ive changed in my life, it's still amazing how much difference a new set will make compared to some worn, old ones.
TBS302,
Man, I wish you hadn't said that! Now I'm going to have to look at buying a new set also. Mine are probably about 5-6 years old. Mine still look new, does that count?
