Title: wipers wont park
Post by: ramair351 on August 08, 2012, 10:45:51 PM
so my 88 tc's wipers dont like to park sometimes, and there is a humming squealing noise coming from under the dash. i assume this is the wiper governor box causing this?  eventually they will park.
if so anyone have a good used one?

Hi Pete,
I had a similar issue recently on my 83, and found that i had a bad ground on the wiper motor....some oxidation had built up on it. I cleaned it real well and no more problem.  Sometimes the best solutions are the easiest ones.

Mines gone out a couple of times and I just keep changing the whole motor. 3 bolts and a clip and you're done. The only problem if you use used ones it might be bad to. I got lucky with the one I just put in this summer. Of course I have quite a few to choose from.

once upon a time i chased this issue,
mult-switch did not fix
replacement known good wiper governer did not fix
gave up..............then found all the bolts were loose holding the motor.

apparently if the bolts are not tight, the motor and linkages will sorta bind up and probably not let it sense the correct radial orientation its in and never activate the park signal.
