What the frick...I see many turbo coupes with 5 lugs...mine is 4..is it normal that my 87 TC has a 4 lug setup?? It makes it rather hard finding 4 lug wheels that are good sorta...
The parts car I had was a four lugger.
A stock TC will have 4 lug wheels. However, it's popular to swap in the spindles, rotors, calipers, rear axles and required parts from a '94 and up Mustang to get 5 lug.
I've done it to mine....mostly....
If your okay with loosing abs, you can just swap the rotor.
I think my abs is screwed up anyways...I just thought it was something that sporadically changed or maybe something got screwed up somehow and I got a 4 lug because I could have sworn it said 5 somewhere..on a side related topic to abs, if that doesn't work is it just a computer issue?
All Turbo coupes are 4 lug.
SuperCoupes are 5 lug, but not the same bolt pattern/spacing as 5 lug Mustangs. Rather, they're the same pattern as Taurus/Sable/Continentals. Basically, the FWD Ford 5 lug pattern.
As far as ABS, it could be several things causing issues. Someone that's more savvy than I am can help with the Teves 2 stuff.
Our fox T-Birds and Cougar ALL are 4 lug until we decide to convert them. Interestingly, our Lincoln cousin the Mark VII has the same chassis, but they came with lots of just better parts, including 5 lug axles, rotors and wheels. Also on the better parts list are the engine (205-225HP HO vs 155HP? SO), headers, and H-pipe dual exhaust. Like ThunderbirdSport302 said, however, most use mustang parts for the swap.
Dont worry about the ABS the system is a piece of JUNK ANY WAY!!!
okay so the lincoln had the same frame n stuff? so what if i say..find one of them and just swap it all? ;) sounds like A LOT of work...I'll just leave it as is
That's actually what I'm in the process of doing. I have all the parts from a Lincoln, I took everything off the car worth using. Complete engine, the entire brake system, wheels, odds and ends. I just need the time to do it all. I really need a second vehicle, I hate working on the Thunderbird knowing I absolutely need it to get me to work the next day.
I know right?? I need to replace the timing belt, and it's all sort of easy EXCEPT when we got to taking off the dang belt I realized I have to take off the harmonic balance and...dang no tools for taking that off and schucks has the wrong tool kit and...a large margin of error there...I just don't wanna take it to a shop to do it..that'll cost A LOT!!!
I'd go sn-95 stuff, its getting cheap, and the 94-98 axles all have disks and are about the same length as stock. Plus down he road, upgrades are easy.
