So since this section is called "The parts that put the power to the ground" what tires do you guys run for a daily driver. I was looking for some new meat for my turbines and was looking at BF Goodrich Radial T/a has anyone ran these? Looking at throwing 215 on the front and 235 on the rear. Thanks
i had Radial T/A's on my Torino and they were really great on fair weather days, not so great on wet pavement.......
Does anyone here have experience with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s? I'm debating between them and the BF Goodrich Radial T/As.
BFG T/A's are as stated above suck in the rain. I'm going with stock size Nexen N5000 or the Cooper CS4's when I can afford to through $400 at tires. I think I'm leaning a little bit towards the Coopers right now.
Yeah i was looking at the Coopers too but but the ones with the white lettering are like 120/ each and the Bfg's i found for 79/each
Hmmmmm I just found some indy 500's and people say that they are better than the t/a's only problem is can i run a 215/65/15 tire on turbines?
I had 235-60-15's and 245-60-15's on my old turbines. :)
If you'll drive on nothing but dry, then I'd go with the BF G's. As stated, they blow a monkey's left nipple in rain, snow, mud, banana peels, dog turds, wet grass, and vomit.
Personal experience, well, with the exception of banana peels.
S'truth.
Yeah the whole has no traction on wet ground is what is driving me away from the BFG's. I'm a new driver and my tbird still has what I think are the original Cooper white walls and holy balls do they fish tail my car on some wet pavement.

Got these in the TC OEM size, so far no complaints. We don't get much rain here though :giggle:
How long have you had your falkens? I got some put on a couple years ago, they didn't last half of the mileage warrany. Bald in less than a year.
This is actually one of them.......

Dang, how many smokey burnouts you doing with those things....?
It only took one good one to get it to come apart like that. The rest of the balding is just from everyday rolling. Here is what that tire looked like when I finally pulled it off the car:

What did the other rear tire look like. That one looks like it fell victim to the "one wheel peel".
It looked just like it save for the tread tears. Like I said, that one tire I shredded doing a good burnout on some gravely pavement. But really I never did any good burns with that car until I got it tagged back and by then they were already shot which is why I roasted it.
dang and I thought my tires were bald lol
I'm running BFG RTA's on two different rides now......the 351W Ranger (205/60 front, 275/60 rear) and my '88 Sport (225/60 all around). Traction in either of these cars can be hard to get on dry pavement but that's not the fault of the tires so wet roads would have not chance so I can't speak to wet road performance...neither see the road in the rain. But I've run enough other cars in all kinds of weather and have yet to really find a tire that sucked in the rain. I religiously stay away from a solid center bar and mostly solid outer bars. The only tires that did suck were Goodyear Wrangler RTS's on my F-150....they are the perfect soccer mom tire...solid center, solid outer bars and can go a lifetime without rotating but suck if you even have enough dampness to cover the grass.
I think I'll be going with the Firestones, they are cheaper and seem to be reviewed better on wetness.
I have 225/55/16 Firestone Firehawk GTs on my T-bird. The car can roast 'em on dry pavement easily. I've only driven it once in the rain with the tires and I had to start in 2nd gear to get any traction. I'm guessing this is not the fault of the tire. The do hold the road very good and ride well.
I've had Cooper Cobra's on mine for a few years now and I like them real well. Of course I don't drive it much, usually just car shows but occasionally I do get caught in rain and I can't say I've had any problems with them.
hmmm but Cobra Gt's are pretty expensive, and i'm kind of saving for a 5.0/351 swap so many decisions lol
Do you have any tire stores in your town that have take offs? One of our tire shops (Goodyear) back home would take the tires off a brand new car and give the person a lot of trade value on them if they put Goodyear tires on their car. I put a set of 205/65/15's on my Coupe back when I first bought it and it was a 4 banger that were take offs and they cost me around $200 installed.
