They should interchange, unless the XR7 fenders have different trim or badges that i don't know of.

The only difference would be corning lights.  Make sure the donor and your car either both have them, or both do not have them.  Although you can cut holes for them if your car has them and the donor does not.

That's a scary thing. What kind of spring was it and what do you think the cause was?  Best of luck fixing up your car.  Is it so bad you can't pull the dent and repair?

The xr7 trim was diffirent, and wider for certain years, not sure if it would be a problem swapping them or not though.

Any 83-86 fender should work. My 86 gs had small thin trim, the 86 ls had slightly thicker, and I believe the 86xr7 was a diffferent style, not completely sure though.

the slim trim was for the body line, the back moldings and front were thicker. The Xr-7 did have the wider moulding all the way around but the smooth kind not the ridged version like the Thunderbird had in 83/84.

I had the tip of a garage door spring break off and I was lucky I wasn't killed. That thing ricocheted all the way around the garage before it stopped.
If you have the old style, before they put the safety cable in them, you should replace them.
