Post by: jonwayne1988 on May 16, 2012, 02:22:04 PM
So I got a 88 TC that some one had started striping so I am making it in too a track car. The A/C has been striped. I am waiting to see what all I can strip out of the motor bay. They guy that had it before striped the A/C, the radio, and abs. I'm trying to see what else can go to make the car wiegh less.

the seats, carpet, and sound deadener is pretty much most of the weight.  The next heavy stuff is bumpers and their mounts.  The rest of it is a bunch of random places where you can get 1/2 a pound to a pound.  I have an aluminum driveshaft too.  I just tried to make everything that didn't need to be really strong as light as possible.  There was another person on this site that had a list of how much everything weighed, but I don't remember who it was.

Cool thanks. I have already striped all the sound deadener from under the carpet, rear seats and the trunk. Did you use a drive shaft from another car or did you buy one for your car? I have a aluminum drive shaft out of a mark 8. Any idea if it will fit?

I got the only aluminum driveshaft out of a crown vic in the junkyard I went to.  Think I found 9 other steel driveshafts.  I ended up cutting it down to fit.  Did it myself and havent noticed any vibrations or anything from it either.
