Quick Background: I lost interest in my cougar after my dad died in 2008 from an unexpected heart attack. I sold his 88 cougar because I couldn't stand looking at it sitting in the driveway. My 88 cougar sat untouched to only be start up once a month to keep it running.
I was younger and dumb back then and thought I knew it all, ha, and swapped 19 lb/hr injectors into my 5.0S.O with an HO intake upper and lower. S.O. Camshaft and thought the computer would compensate. Well it didn't and it ran like a turd. The stock injectors were junk as for the reason for buying HO injectors so I do not have the stocks to put back on.
I'm asking for help, WHERE CAN I GET SOME STOCK 14 lb/hr gray injectors for the 88 5.0SO without paying $300!!? I'm looking for free to little as possible as I need some serious cash to get this baby looking good again as the tires and wheels need replaced. The body had been fully restored and has 100% NO RUST or dents. Glass and interior are perfect plus the fiberglass gfx.
It has sat next to the garage for quite some time and needs some cleaning and some work done to get it back on the road. Seems as the drums are locked and front rotors have rusted a bit to the front pads. I'm sure with a little patience and cleaning I can get those unstuck.
Wow! that's a pretty kitty
I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I didn't know him, but I watched updates and pictures on coolcats when I was in high school. Gimme your address and I'll send you some 14lbers off my old motor for free.
Sorry about your Dad. I'm glad you're going to get your Cougar running again. I remember us writing on cardomain quite a while back.
If Haystack doesn't have any, I might still have some...think I may have threw 'em in the s pile though. If nothing else, you can always nab some from a 5.0 Crown Vic/Marquis/Town Car....they had 14 pounders...
Welcome home, too....glad to have ya back :)
Welcome back man. I had my 14# injectors laying around but I'm sure I finally threw them away. Get that Cat back on the road and enjoy the thing!
DAMMIT!!!!! I *just* threw some away very recently, as much as I fight my mom over "you don't understand I or someone else MIGHT use this SOMEDAY" I sat there and figured they were pointless to keep.
But actually...someone also sold me a fuel rail about the same time, he sent it with the stock 14 lb'ers on it, I took them off to look inside....I'm hoping I kept them because I know they looked real nice, I'm racking my brain to figure out if I tossed 'em or not, but I'll check when I get home from work. If I got 'em they're yours.
I remember reading about your dad. It's good that you're bringing it out, he'd want you to :). Keep the tradition alive!
My dad fought a six month battle with brain cancer, back in 2003. I was 15. I know he'd be proud that I steered the 20th anniversary away from being driven into the ground, which is more or less what he purchased it for anyway. Not to preserve it in a glass case. And mom can say what she wants but I don't think he'd smack me upside the head for having no cats and dumped Flowmasters on it LOL.
Welcome back Steve and good to know your Cat is still around friend. :rollin:
Welcome back bud. Glad to see some old faces popping back up out of the woodwork.
Welcome back :).
MY GOD! welcome back.. i wont be the only one asking.. where did you get your kit from?
Hello thanks for the warm welcome. I had it made from a company in Texas that has since went out of business.
WOW! Is your offer still available? I'll send you money for shipping!
If your still planning on the upgrade, I've got a h.o. cam and sd stang computer i'd let go cheap. If you just want the injectors, send me a pm, I'll send them to you, and you paye actual shipping cost.
Hey haystack I'm just interested in getting the car back on the road. Just the injectors. I sent u a pm.
Thanks ! :)
Steve
Im not saying that you will, but if you have any problems with Heystacks injectors, I've got a full set too.
Welcome back! I remember seeing that nice cat in the past, always liked that blue on your car, looks very sharp. Hang in there, a little patience and some encouragement from everyone on here you will be driving that car and get your interest back soon! These cars are a lost breed, not much on the road like them anymore.
Good luck!
Tim
Thanks everyone! Bruce thanks.
