more then you can see in that pic...;)
the entire car is a mod from the frame up.... lol
Not sure what year it came out of... Vinnie got me another for my 87...he would know

yep
That's slick. Had to look real close to see what u were referring to. Mine's factory digital with automatic. I'm guessing yours was factory standard?
Some people build a cup holder into their console lid. I don't like that due to loss of an armrest when you have a drink. Having cup holder come out of the dash gets in the way of the radio. A cup holder in the middle can cause problems with the shifter if you have standard or automatic on the floor. Pick your poison. I will keep the automatic on the column and put the cup holder in the middle. Plan on making a custom console with it in there. Not sure yet where I will locate the window and seat switches.....

Here is what I did. I have since put some filler in the edges but I still haven't painted it. It works great.
I have a different approach....

originally it was a digi speedo cluster and an auto.... it got swapped over before I got it, but you never knew what gear you were in... so I added that... the cupholders were also in the car too. I redid how they were mounted... Pop cans never get in the way of the radio...and larger cups really don't fit in them, but it works for what I need, when I need it
Yep, Taurus. I need to start grabbing all of those I see. for everyone.
Here's my cup holder........

.......and no, my arm doesn't get bothered by that hole. It'll also hold a giant size cup from anywhere, and at the bottom, it's smaller to hold a smaller cup without it wobbling around.
I totally love the Taurus cup holders. Was moving the Climate Control to the top difficult? I have EATC, and there's a duct that runs behind there, so I (having seen yours) trimmed my EATC module to fit under the duct, but the whole thing is really tight and the module sits a bit low in the hole with no room to move it up a little. Regardless, I'm doing the same mod and I'll make the best of it. Just one more question, are you using any radio mounting brackets to hold the cup holder in there or something else. I'd love to have a pic of it with the front trim off.
Thats great.. nice mod Jerry
I used a metal case, that I guess is for a stereo...had to do a lot of tpuppies to get it to fit right. Wish I would have taken some pics of that now that I look back on it
Here is a straight on shot of it installed. Took a lot of screwing around to get it to look like it belonged in the car
BTW...the stereo is not staying

This pic is with a center console and it seems to now be behind the trim panel, but in the first pic you seem to not have a console and to have fitted it through the trim differently.
this pic is the redo...the other was how it was when I got the car
HOW?!?! Oh Magical Wizard of Fox Cars. Lol
It does look better that way, though.
lol... I did a whole writeup on this...it's floating around here somewhere
i finally got a cupholder in my tbird. i couldnt find what i was after for a long time. finally, my mom got a new electric wheelchair, and it came with this simple cupholder attached to the armrest. she didnt want it, soooo. one 1/4 drill bit later and a christmas tree push pin, i have a cupholder now. it works well i think.

Somewhere there are pics on the forum of my cupholder mod. I dremeled a cutout next to the lighter and put in one of those pop-out in-dash cupholders (Toyota JDM, had to special-order it). It's only possible if you have a column shift, no sentry lights next to the lighter, and the small ashtray in front of the window switches (basically a blank area next to the lighter).
Here's a pic that shows where my cupholder is. It's spring-loaded, you push it in and it pops out. It only holds a single cup, but it does the job. I had to slightly mod the sleeve to let it slide out an extra 1/2" to clear the lip below it, but that was really easy. The part is a JDM in-dash cupholder for a Toyota 80 Series (Land Cruiser).

There are others, but this has possibly the best fit for the panel. There's a 4Runner one that holds two cups but the front panel is angled so the fit is wrong.
