Title: WTB Lighted Sunvisors
Post by: 88 Blackbird 5.0 on April 20, 2012, 10:51:49 PM
I'm looking for a clean pair of grey, black, or navy blue-colored, lighted sunvisors out of a TC with a moonroof.  I found out the hard way that TC's with a moonroof (like mine) have different sized sunvisors than solid roof cars.

Let me know what you've got.  Thanks!

Im pretty sure I have a dark blue set from a sunroof car. Just to confirm do you have the measurements of the visor you seek? I didnt know there was a difference.

Hey Kendoo,

Visors for moonroof TC's are 16" long.  Solid roof cars have visors with a nose that sticks out so that both visors almost touch.

Thanks for letting me know about those visors, but those visors are for a solid roof T Bird.    The fingers that stick out of the ends of those visors are how you can tell.  On a moonroof-equipped TC, the ends of the visors don't have those fingers/projections sticking out.

Hopefully Kendoo has a good pair of navy blue ones I can buy off him.

Hey Blackbird-sorry for the wait. I just went looking in my stash in my basp00get and I cant find them. I sold my car last year and I might have thrown them in the car when I sold it. The new owner will check in the car for me when he gets home tonight. If he has them you can have them for free just pay for the shipping from GA. Once again sorry about the delay.

Thanks for the update on the visors.  That sounds good to me.  I appreciate the help!

There are Explorers with the short visors like you describe.

Like these.....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mercury-Explorer-Mountaineer-Sun-Visors-/110878254679?fits=Model:Explorer&hash=item19d0dbe657&item=110878254679&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

I installed my Explorer visors and they were a direct swap. The screw holes (for the swivel) were the same, the clips that the visor snaps into was a direct swap, and even the plug for the lights was a direct match to the Bird's plug.

Thanks for that link Vinnie, but none of the Explorer visors will fit a TC with a moonroof because the distance between the swivel points and the clips the ends of the visors snap into is whiter on a moonroof equipped TC.  Solid roof T Birds and Explorers have identical spacing between those 2 points though.

Aaaaaaah, I see. Like stated before, you could have yours recovered. I had a quote of $45 to recover mine (before I swapped to the Explorer style).

You know what?  I'm probably gonna end up doing that.  At least I can have them covered in the exact Colorado I want.  I can make them match the headlined that way.

If you do find factory pieces, the odds of them lasting are slim. They will be just as old.

That's true, but I've seen some pretty darn clean visors for solid roof cars.  HELL, the ones in that Craigslist add are really clean.  I have a super clean pair of black visors for a solid roof T Bird I'm gonna be selling.  They're out there.
