As the title states Im trying to figure out what the going prices for TC hood and loaded header panel. The previous owner of mine has extra's that I find my self in need of. He wants me to make an offer and I have no clue what to offer him. So if you all could help me out here that would be great. He's contemplating car-part.com prices which to me seem on the high side.
Hood $50 (what they go for local around here)
Header panel $50-75
Head lights $40 +, depending upon condition
Inner markers $30 +, depending upon condition
Outer markers $45 +
Thanks man, Im looking for as much input as possible. So keep them coming!!!
i sold my header complete with marker lights (sold the headlights to someone here) for $100.. local yard here charges $40 for a hood
I don't know what the prices should be, but the hood should cost more than the average. To my knowledge the TC hoods are not being reproduced. I have not even seen a fiberglass version. And remember, Production numbers of the TCs were a lot lower than the other birds.
I've sold TC hood for $100 - $150, I had a perfect TC nose, header panel, all lights, bumper and bumper cover, I sold it for $300. Like I said though it was perfect, lights and all. I've sold TC header panels from $75 - $150. Hope that helps.
So if I offer him $300 for loaded header panel and hood, does that seem like a more than fair price?
I would say it is. Maybe start at $250 then go to $300.
Start at $150.00. He doesn't need them, and would probably rather offload them than hold onto them. If $300 is your top number, have it ready, but start a lot lower and that gives you room to work your way up. The TC hood I have on the Sport now I got for $35.00. The prices of them vary depending on who's selling them. Start low. He may surprise you.
Good point Vinnie. He might be tired of having it around and let it go cheap. The cheaper the better for you.
Well it aint that way, hes in no hurry to get rid of them. He would like to get another Tbird some day and obviously in the 87-88 year. So Ive pretty much got to entice him enough. And like I stated up above he's been looking at car-part.com prices, in which he must have just looked at the most expensive ones because he siad he seen them for 500 for one and 300 for the other and I dont remember which was which.
Then look elsewhere. The parts are out there, and a lot cheaper. Start calling salvage yards. Even if you have to drive for an hour to get there, you're still way ahead. Gas and parts should NOT cost $500.00.
I've got two TC header panels in the garage. One for the Sport when the repaint happens, and one that I'm going to do some modifications to. Got them both for uber cheap...and trading. Be patient, you'll find the parts.
Drive to Nebraska. I've got everything you need, and it would be cheap.
Sent you a pm jangus!!!
I bought a tc hood for $25 on a pick and pull half off day.
Someone that wants $300 to $500 for a hood will still have it 10 years from now. Everyonce in a while I still see local cars being parted that I was turned down with offers on. One guy I talked to in 2003 and just sold a front end to my buddy this year. I offered him $1k for the front end, rear and suspension for my old 86. He turned me down and still has the entire car minus front end. He wanted $150 for a badly peeling and slightly rusted hood with two broken scoops.
Ya thats why Im gonna give jangus a chance before I even call the guy. Id rather spend money on gas and seeing an area Ive never been than over pay for parts.
