Title: rattle sound
Post by: BlackTHUNDA on April 19, 2012, 10:16:02 PM
I have a 88 2.3 turbo. When I shift into 2nd gear and give it gas, a rattling sound comes from the right front of the car. It sounds like when the CV axles need grease on a FWD. I don't think its the turbo because the sound goes away at around 3500 rpm, and it boosts fine. What could it be? And only in second gear!!!

thanks in advance :D

That sounds odd.  Could it be detonation?  Maybe the wastegate flapper/plug thing is rattling?

Are you sure it's coming from that far forward in the car, or is it maybe from the clutch?

It might be coming from the clutch, my dad said it could be the bearing. Sometimes it goes away. Then again it hasn't been driven in over a year and driven about twice a year in the years prior to that. I'm planning on changing the clutch anyways, So I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks
