I was in the market for a new laptop as my old G4 Power Book 17" took a dive off the bed, and killed the logic board. (thank you to my wife) She felt so bad about it that she told me to shop for a new one.....A replacement 17" Mac Book Pro retails for $2,399 plus tax, shipping and applecare for nearly $3,100 when all done. I said no way i can shell out that kind of cash right now....so i go to CL and find either used overpriced , or stripped down refurbished units online with no warranty. Long story short, i found a 17" 2.53 Mac Book as new with no box from a reseller in South Dakota. They wanted $1,699 so offered them $1,200 and the sales girl gets back on the phone as says "deal". I was stunned.....then she says free shipping and insurance and no tax as I'm a out of state buyer. Then i purchase a 2 year warranty from them for all perils for $99. Here is the icing on the cake.....i go to apple's website to register the computer and find out its a brand new unit that has never been activated and has a full year of applecare and i can renew for 3 years for $349 if i want after the year is up. So i scored a April 2010 17" Mac Book Pro for $1,300 with 2 warranty's and it came loaded with the new I7 Intel processor, 750 Gig HD and 8 gigs RAM. It should have cost me almost 60% more......there are deals to be had out there.......
