Title: New bumper cover for drag bird
Post by: Dave_C on April 02, 2012, 09:31:53 PM
Hi Guys

Haven't been on much in a while..Working.

Just wanted to post up some pics of my new bumper cover.  My drag car 86 T-Bird had a front bumper cover that was rough.  It was the only part of the car I was really unhappy with.  Looked everywhere for a reman oem cover, but they have been obsoleted by all the reman companies.

Took a chance and bought a "new" aftermarket cover off ebay.  It was a good deal at $149 and free shipping.  It surprised me when it came in.  Made in the USA and fit as well as the oem.

The car has no inner bumper core and so has no place to mount the parking light/turn signals.  The old cover had open holes.  We filled int he new cover's holes with kevlar cloth and a special urethane filler.  Turned out great and I like the smooth look.

Got the new bumper cover back today and it put back together.  I think it looks pretty good.  Really like that the parking light holes are gone.

Wow! that does look great, any idea what the name of the company is. I have been looking around and doing some research and I found a couple companies that still make fiberglass parts for the Birds. VFN and Harry Glass are 2 of the companies that I found who make good quality parts.

Here is where I got my bumper cover.  Can't think of the name of the company that made it.  Not at home right now.
