Hey I just bought the UPR black billet hood pins, just wondering where you guys installed them. Pictures please!!!!
install them where the bumpers are. May have to drill the holes out of course. Then, once the holes are drilled, install the studs, and put a thick piece of rubber on them to act as bumpers, while still letting the stud to go through the hood.
Oh, I have seen some people, after installing the studs into the core support, put another nut on the stud down far enough to hold a rubber hood stopper. The new rubber is donut shaped and sits on top of the nut to stop the hood from bouncing around.
The only problem with that is the bumpers are not centered. I can't find anything on this install on any fox car only the new stangs
What do you mean "not centered"?
Centered on the side section
Are those sitting above the space where the factory hood stops are located?
If not, then maybe you can fab up a couple of steel plates in an "L" shape, bolt them to your core support wherever you need them to locate the hood pin studs where you want them.
Or brackets like in this picture....

that you can bolt to the core support that will place the studs where you want them. Not necessarily exactly like those in the picture, but you get the idea. A relocation bracket. Easy to fab, and a few fasteners, done.
The picture with them closer to the edge is where the bumpers are located.
The pic with them closer to the edge still looks great, and with the width of the hood, the look stays balanced, and they'll still hold the hood down..
What is it that's keeping you from just drilling+tapping+double nutting into the core support where you want them, and being done?
I actually like them better closer to the edge in the pic.... guess I'm just one of those "on the edge" kinda people. lol
Ok I have thought it through the car looks too clean to put them on. I will be painting a flat black strip down the cowl.
I'll get some fresh pix of mine when I get home.
