Yeah, that. My offer has been accepted and everything, it's just a matter of the inspection, water test, etc. Closing date is May 31, just in time to use that pool. I'll be building a double garage on the lot immediately upon moving in, and the garage will have 12.5 foot ceilings, so I can have a hoist. Definitely a major improvement over the 100+ year old house in the boonies I've just sold...
Here's the listing...

Oh, and before anyone asks: I've been trying for a week to get hold of the guy selling that 20th Cougar, but he's not answering his phone or emails. It's March Break here so he may be gone away...
Congrats man !!!
2100sq ft, that quite a shack... Congrats....
congrats.....
Salt water pool?
nice house, congrats!
Congrats on the house!!!!
Yeah, it's bigger than I need, but I'm buying it as an investment/retirement nest egg as well as a place to live. Also that 2100 square feet includes both levels plus half the basp00get, so it's really no bigger than a standard 1000 square foot bungalow with a fully finished basp00get. The place I just sold has 1600 square feet with an unfinishable basp00get (it only has 6' ceilings and stone walls, not concrete)
Yeah, the pool has salt water, with a chlorine generator. It works by ionizing the chlorine out of the salt (the "chloride" in "sodium chloride"). The chlorine stays "free" long enough to do what chlorine is supposed to do in a pool, then recombined with the sodium and starts the process over again. The pool at the family cottage is set up like this too. It vastly cuts down on the amount of pool chemicals that are needed. Basically you shock the hell out of the pool to open it in spring, then it takes care of itself. The salt is very dilute (not near as concentrated as seawater) and is not consumed. You only need to add a bit here and there to make up for salt lost through water loss (by splash out, back flushing or overflow).
Thanks for the congrats, guys. I'm quite excited. Now if only that guy with the Cougar would answer, life would be perfect :D
Congrats!
Nice place.. My uncle has a salt water pool, they're nice.. Much better than swimming all day in chlorine
Looks like quite a place, congatulations
Congrats. Looks like a nice place.
Congrats!
That's a heck of a nice house, though if it's only 15 years old, why does it have baseboard heating? Sounds like you'll enjoy the heck out of it.
Because oil is really, really, really expensive here (about $4.50/gallon) and natural gas is not an option anywhere except the richest downtown areas. I might have a heat pump installed though...
Baseboard heating is more efficient.. and cheaper in the long run.... you could also look into a wood fired boiler, as an aux heating source... My neighbor has one... his gas bill is usually the min of about $35 every month
but I see it's electric heat... I would still look into a multi source boiler as a heat option
Nice place!! I know you'll enjoy it!
If I do any wood heating at all it'll be with a pellet stove. I've had enough of handling firewood to last me a long, long time...
Very nice, congrats!
i hear you on that 1! lol we put a wood burning stove in the basp00get of my old house.. after winter's end, i didn't even want to look at a chain saw, ax or firewood..
Nice score! Hardwood floors are a bonus in my book. Especially if you plan on pets and children. Much easier to keep clean.
Congrats! We just bought one too, though much smaller at 1274 sqft, but it's a "green" home so its super energy efficient and is on very pretty property on top a hill in the 'burbs near the interstate with a great view. Our closing date was set at March 31st but we aren't going to make it in time since USDA/FAHE and everyone else got wrapped up and busy with this whole tornado mess here (it wiped out an entire town, my wife's hometown, it's completely gone..). Hopefully we get moved in before end of May.. otherwise we are gonna be homeless for a bit! Gotta be outta here before June, and we have nowhere else to go now thanks to the tornadoes.
