Title: Anyone tried 351 Mercruiser heads??
Post by: canadiancarguy on March 16, 2012, 04:59:10 PM
I was working on my 93 Tbird in my shop today (My redneck friend ran it over coming home from the bar one night in his big truck, he thought it was funny as heck, but I didn't think so) and my landlord seen the pile of 302s I am working on. He said he had a pile of 351 mercruiser heads lying around and he figured they would be better than the stock heads. Anyone tried a marine head head before?

Not saying it is 100% factual but it gives you somewhere to start.

From what I seen earlier today they look similar to 289 heads. Small cc chamber and no smog humps. They look like they will bolt right on, but I'd have to check the head bolt size.

the head bolt hole size will basically only dictate what head bolts/studs you need to use.. ARP makes studs for 302's using 351 heads

You can use the regular 7/16" studs or bolts.  ARP makes reducing washers as just about every aftermarket aluminum head has 1/2" holes.
