Title: cam install questions

New cam came with two dowel pins long and short which one do I use
Do I loc tight the cam bolt
What do I torque the cam bolt to.

When I installed a trickflow cam in a 302 several years ago the short dowel pin wasn't completely flush with the timing gear,  with the long pin it was flush and wasn't too short.  So sorry I don't know if it was right or wrong but I used the long one in two different motors for a couple of years and never had a problem with it.  Check with your cam manufacture to double check..

Just found out on a hyd roller you use the long one

Figured that cause the short one doesn't reach the end of the gear,  it was fun pulling the short pin out of the cam too when I put it in.. lol

I use red loctite on the cam bolt and torque to spec.  I don't have my Haynes manual handy right now but I will try to google for you.

40-45 ft lbs for camshaft sprocket bolt
