Title: Cobra Intake.....
Post by: vinnietbird on March 09, 2012, 05:56:01 PM
For sale......Cobra intake.....No, I'm not swapping all of mine. It's my extra. F3ZE upper, less than 2000 actual miles of use from it. It was bought NOS. I kept the lower on my car, and this replacement lower (not Chinese) was just glass beaded yesterday, Excellent condition, full baffle down below, no damage, no stripped threads, and the upper and lower will come with a 1/2 inch plenum spacer. You'll need to run to Lowe's and spend $3.00 to buy the bolts, though.

SOLLLLLLD !!!!!!!.

I can ship it all out Monday evening or Tuesday morning. I can also paint the lower Ford Gray, clear it, Paint it all Ford Blue, or leave the lower natural, and the upper as Ford made it. The upper has my fingerprints on it, but I'll clean it before it goes to it's new home.

We have a hardware store here in town that sells bolts and fasteners by the pound. $1.99 per pound. Nuts, bolts, washers, any combination.....$1.99 per pound.

Nice! I know the size needed for the intake bolts, just didn't know if lowes carried anything that size. It's a 50 miles round trip for me to just lope over there and find out...

Get a couple of long sticks of 5/16 all thread, and the nuts and washers ( acorn nuts for that"finished" look), and you can make your own custom bolts for any odd length.

G, they have 2-3 stores, but short of some all thread, doubt they carry bolts that size lol.

Vinnie, I might do that too....might even make a set each for the intakes I have to throw in with them when I get 'em cleaned up to sell.

All thread, x 6 fashioned bolts, simply to hold an upper intake in place that has nothing moving or pulling or pushing. It's fine. Not like it's holding accessory drive brackets in place. Plus, a lot of people can't find odd sized bolts.

I found stainless bolts for mine at Fastenal.
there is a right-up on FEP on all the bolt sizes for everything on the motor, and where to buy them....they said lowes or home depot is the place to buy them, but they don't have real long stainless bolts for the intake with a spacer

Makes me wonder how those pesky intake bolts that intrude into the water jackets/coolant passages in the head would...hold up. Hmmmmm.

all my bolts in the block itself are ARP stainless.. the uppers and assy bolts are from fastenal
When the motor was built.. there was an ARP bolt kit that was never used for someone else... He gave it to me, to free up space from things piling up at the shop. :D

Edit: So of course I had to continue the look.....

"aye"...............

I have a combination of bolts. My upper plenum bolts came with the spacer kit. they work great. Stainless would be awesome. I might start using stainless after I gather all the fasteners when it comes time to detail the ol' GT40-P.
