Who has a picture of the airbox installed on their TC....
got an idea, and I need to see an example..
I flipped the airbox over in my car. I think I can make this work by maybe using a TC airbox instead, but need to see it

You're trying to make the hood scoops functional, right? Remember the hood scoops feed the intercooler, not the airbox in a TC...
I don't know what an intercooler is... lol

The black thing with radiator looking cores is the IC (intercooler).
The air box is bottom left of the picture, on the passenger side of the radiator.

Most people remove the stock TC airbox and replace it with a 3" K&N cone.
It would be hard to keep water out of the air box when using the TC hood scoops.

Just put a big turbo on with the intercooler. Problem solved,you need a new project for that car.
Perhaps. It was originally designed to feed the intercooler so the designers were not really concerned if water got in. It may be hard to design it so it works as a fresh air intake. Then again you've already rebuilt a Cougar so why not try :).
Do you need the plastic ducting for under the hood? I have one on a TC hood I have here ifya need it

Lou, there are actually a lot of cars that have used hood scoops.... I see that camaro had a working hood scoop and airbox

Im pretty sure he wouldnt drive it in the rain, but if you put a couple holes in the air box it should drain ok.
Eh, most cars suck some water at some point in time. But the way Jerry is looking at doing it (just by the looks) he's going to have the ducting go to the airbox, which has a filter, and if he taps the furthest point of the airbox and puts a drainage nipple and a hose leading out it should do fine. The factory airbox where it dumps out behind the bumper cover still gets wet. the filter will catch 90% of it and if you run the fancy K&N filter it in theory should have no issues.
Im ,eventually, going to chop one of the ducts I have here and make it dump straight into the aircleaner. Iz gots no worries.
to be honest just buy a fender well cold air intake for it. mac preformace parts makes a nice one. they clam 14hp gain on dyno with hood closed and its only around $150 and u get chrome tubing. ohh if u didnt know u have to buy one for a fox body stang it will fit there the same under the hood
That's pretty much what I have now using the stock airbox... mines wide open in the fender
$150 is a lot of money for 20'' of tubing, and a filter if you ask me.
It just wouldn't be "Project Evolution" if I couldn't make it, mod it, or re-build it....;)
you need the air box off a cervinis ram air hood.... you could move some stuff around to make it close

I saw that kit..... it really gave me a lot of ideas on how to make this actually work
any progress. I've been thinking about the same thing, and have been making designs on how to make something like Cervini's.
I didn't have time to make a template for the plastic guy. Had to fix a few things on my car first. I have more motivation to get it on the road first. It's very close. Then I can play with a few ideas I have

to be honest. i don't think it'll really do anything for a stock-type EFI car.. all the bends required to make it work will take away all the aspect of the ram air idea.. at each bend, the air will begin to lose velocity, to which point the motor will just start pulling it through like a typical intake.. now for 87thunderbirdBlackJack's car, it's perfect because he's running a carb.. if he can get the scoops to seal to an air box type breather, he should see some gain anywhere above 35mph

It would still be better then a cone filter in the engine bay suckin in heat, like a lot of people do
true, but unfortunately the duct work being over the motor will heat up and warm the air.. not as warm as the typical cone filter laying on the wheel well, but still warm
