Post by: Shadow on February 03, 2012, 12:40:43 PM
i found a glory hole of Explorers in a junkyard in delaware, with completely unmolested motors

so far, i have 2 sets.. there are 3 or 4 more sets yet to grab. i can also get the upper/lower intakes, if anyone's interested. before i send these off, they'll have new valve guide seals, polished port with a little porting around the valve guide ends, a little polishing in the combustion chambers and the .. they will be 100% clean and ready to bolt on (with stock rockers) when they arrive on your doorstep. i can also drill/tap them for 3/8" studs, if needed. i can also suit them up with studs, pushrod guides and procomp 1.6 roller rockers

looking to get $300 per set, with stock rockers
$450 with roller rocker setup
$525 with full porting and roller setup

PLUS SHIPPING.. will be shipped from the shop, in townsend, de

Interesting. How much power is there to gain by swapping on my SO and what else would i need. Im still running speed/density with stock injectors. I've read that the SO heads have really small exhaust valves. Also im running a Powerdyne with 8psi of boost so i wonder what the compression ratio would be. Sorry for all the newb questions. I have zero experience with motor builds. I usually just slap on a power adder.

depending on the cam, you may have to fly-cut your pistons.. your heads, if E6's, should be 62 or 64cc.. P heads have ~58cc combustion chambers, so there will be a compression bump of about .4-.6:1 i'd say.. the only issue you may have are your headers. if they step far enough away from the block, you'll have plenty of room to run 90 degree plug boots with no issues

as for power gains, stock to stock, people have said they've seen gains as high was an extra 50hp, but i don't know if that's true, as i've never used stock P heads.. the number i hear buzzing around the most is +25hp with stock GT40-P's

ans as far as valve size, i don't know what size E6 valves are, but the P's do have larger valves

I have read the heads alone are good for almost 30 horsepower. Speed density won't matter. That's a nice deal for the heads. Most people look over the "P" heads and don't realize that they are actually better then the GT40 heads. I hope you sell them all.
