Title: A thread for Tom Renzo and his amazing work.
Post by: shame302 on January 22, 2012, 10:42:57 PM
Here ya go Tom. Post all your pics of all your work, customer cars as well as your own amazing rides all in one place. This way you don't have to spam the rest of the board with 'em.

(That WAS tongue in cheek but there's some fantastic stuff I'm sure we'd love to see).

I was thinking the same thing; it was like every thread had a commercial in it haha.

This will be the one thread he doesn't stick his nose in. He is also so proud of his work, that he can't tell you what his shop is. Reminds me of that carls jr/hardee's commercial. "If our food tasted like theirs, we wouldn't bring it to your table either".

I've tried several times to get the name of his shop to no avail.

Actually, not quite.  If Tom actually wants to start posting projects in this thread, fine.  Better yet, if he wants to start his own thread (without the editorial lead-in) on the matter, that's fine too.

If he chooses not to share anything, that's also fine, and I will close this down.

Everyone play nice now.

Oh Shane your quite the character. Well some of you know I'm toms son Tom. You can think my dad bullshiznits and that's fine, but we have no reason to lie. Search some of my threads on ls1tech of my builds, you can CLEARLY see Porsches, ferraris, camaros, corvettes, cobras ect in the back round

Shane just because you built a slow piece of junk and uou know So much about building cars you bought a crate motor doesn't mean we need to lie, sorry to burst your bubble pal. Me and my dad must really know nothing, We're do stupid they people hand their million dollar cars over to us time and time again. We don't and will never post where or what are shop is, we don't need losers like you coming and peering in our windows. Get a life, get a clue, and pray your slow pos never sees one of our cars on the street. Now excuse me I have to go finish painting this new v10 Audi R8 and my dads quite busy mocking up the supercharged ls3 in a customers 68 Camaro were building.

Fwiw I have thousands of pics of cars we have done for anybody that wants to talk trash

I never had a problem with Tom, and would be interested in seeing some of his work. What I have seen, even in cars I have no interest in, impressed me. He has always chimed in when I've had an issue to try to help. Sometimes it did help, sometimes not, but he tries. So, I as i stated, would be interested in seeing his work.

As far as coming off as a "know it all"....maybe. Maybe not. It's really hard to judge a person's real character over the internet. Some people seem one way in print, then really great in person. So, I have no issues with Tom at all.

If my dad made this thread about Shane it would have been locked instantly but because Shane is a big shot with 3000 posts it stays. Let's see some of your fine work Or dyno numbers Shane, I need a good laugh. Hate me and my dad for our GM rides or the cars we work on, but don't call us liars. Unlike some people on this sight we like any brand or type of car not just fords and that bends a lot of you out of shape. Hate our cars and work all you want but untill you build something faster you will never get any respect from us.  It's easy to be a tough guy behind a keyboard Shane

Man, why does it always have to get ugly? No need for it here, no reason for it here. I'm talking to anyone who is reading this. Like anything, take what you like, leave the rest. Nobody here should be attacking anyone for any reason here. f you have something personal to say, take it to private messaging. It's not a soap opera around here.......well, I say that. C'mon people,... you're all pretty. Now lets move on and get off the  wagon.

I only had a problem with Tom, was how he quoted other post. That seems fixed. Tom gives good info, with pics whoever ask. He seems pen 15y with his answers,I'm similar to that also. It's pretty petty to have a post about it.

You know...after reading the verbal diarrhea you just posted, it just proves once again money and talent doesn't always equate coolness.

That being said, nobody insulted your pa, OR you, this time, yet. But with the attitude you have, expect it soon. And for that matter, it doesn't mean jack shiznit that you've turned wrenched on Porsches, Passats, or a Pugeot, you're still a douchebag.

Tom, I've got no quarrel with you, but this kid of yours...well, makes me real proud to say I'm not on any OTHER forums he's still allowed on. No offense, but he reads a little too much into the quote/unquote tongue-in-cheek humor of this post. Xanax, by chance?

Now, as I said once before...IBTL. :toilet:

First off, dumbass, his name isn't "shane"...and two, if it takes building a faster car than yours to gain your respect, you're a fool AND a douchebag. And hey, I like some Chevy's also, happens to be what I drive. I also like Mustangs, Pontiac Fieros, Jeeps, and some older AMC cars. Who wouldn't like to drive a Lambo?

Point is, you come off as all high and mighty..a spoiled rich kid. Guess what Holmes...nobody here gives a fat shiznit. I can't speak for anyone here but myself, but I'd rather see passion, heart and soul, blood, and long sleepless nights poured into a car, than what some rich shiznithead dumos out of his wallet and doesn't appreciate. AKA eye candy.

Yeah, I'd love to own a 100 K custom built fun car....oh wait...I own a 1500 dollar fun car. May not be as fast as yours, but I built it myself, the way I want, and that is all that matters. You know, I also don't shaging brag it up every other post that someone else makes, like someone else I know.

Actually, I left it open and noted why in my post.  I opened it up for Tom to actually post pics, etc of some projects, or to start his own thread about it.

I deleted pics out of a post he made in someone else's thread that had nothing to do with the topic at hand. It was not the place to post about it, that's it.  It would be like me posting about the motor mounts I build in someone's thread about dual exhaust.

Now he seems to have taken his ball and gone home, which is fine.  Unnecessary, but fine.

Shane wants to try to make my dad look bad, I'll post 100 Porsches in our shop and make him look like the retarded clown he is. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight Shane you'll loose every time

Beau pretty well summed up anything I have to say to you. It looks like snowflake completely missed the scope of this thread. Sorry, it wasn't intended for you, and certainly not to get you all fired up. Slow the eff down, read, comprehend. I have not, nor considered calling ANYONE a LIAR about anything. Feel free to back that one up. Well, not till this very moment. MILLION dollar cars? Alrighty cupcake. FWIW from what I have seen, Tom obviously knows some stuff and does some nice work for his customers. I'm sure they are happy. This could have been a great opportunity to share that work/pride without some loaded reason or response behind it.

As for the personal attack on myself and my work, I built what and I wanted and met my goals. Your shiznit slides fight of me. This spring my new forged/ported/mildly cammed/SC motor should be under the hood. Yay. I do/did it for me. I don't care who or what is faster, has more money etc. one tiny, miniscule, iota, of a bit. Unlike yourself. Good thing you have dad to hold your hand snowflake.

(figured it was as relevant as everyone else's posts :P)

(ps the top line is totally true, and no exageration on price or my techinical expertise, I am in no way affliated with a shop or have a rich Dad despite my posting in this forum his cars)

(PS PS PS: this was a stab to lighten things up, but seriously my shiznit doesn't run)

I'm going to have to call you spoiled. Most people have to earn their way up to working on "high end" cars. Funny thing though, the only differance between a honda mechanic and a porshe mechanic is how clean he needs to be when he pulls the car out of the garage. Its still just a motor in a car. The more expensive the car is, the more bull you have to go through to check your own oil, and how expensive an oil change gets.

Well I can only assume your nearing completion of the 4th grade, by what I do know of you. Now what I know of your dad is even less. Normally when you ask someone a question, they respond to it. Your dad things he is too good for questions, but still demands answers. Also, since your a 4th grader working on hundreds of porshe's and million dollar cars, then I can only assume you are doing so because your dad has an un named shop, which he is so ashamed of he can't even tell us where he works.

How many million dollar cars are there? In the whole world, and how many have you worked on? What makes a porshe suv different, other then then $50k name badge?

Show us just ONE million dollar car you've turned wrenches on.

Also, you still miss the scope of the thread. Simmer down. You and your dad spam the board with pics of customer cars and what not to make a point (or show off or dick swing or whatever). It's unnecessary (as is stepping up for dad, he's a big boy and obviously handles himself better than yourself). I just thought some of us would love to see that work in a dedicated thread, to enjoy and let it speak for itself. After all, Not all of us get to turn wrenched daily on "high end" million dollar cars. Also, I don't think your spoiled. That's not what i'd call it.

Take your nonsense over to yellow bullet. They will love you there.

Alright girls, pack up your dolls and call it a day.

IF Tom had a zillion dollars, and his kids were spoiled,......so what. Who cares? That isn't any business of the rest of us. If the guy can build cars...of any kind, that's cool. If he seems to be a little pen 15y, who cares? It's hard to call someone an ass when those who are calling names are acting no better than what they are accusing. Nobody here really has the right to judge anyone else.Period. If you don't like something in the thread, do you REALLY have to go so far out there to make your point. It's an OPINION....everyone has them, and nobody else cares.

I'd swear I was surrounded by women with hormone problems around some of these threads. Let it go.

Sorry pal but that's not my shop and not where we work. The owner Lew is a friend of ours and actually where I started doing bodywork when I was just a kid. We do however do work for him, my dad builds all his custom wiring harnesses and custom brake lines for his show cars, and help when he does a late model power plants in early cars. He builds some badass muscle cars but no Porsches or ferraris

Yeah, I should start taking pictures at cars I worked on at my last job. 62 t-bird, 76 chevy plow truck, mazerati, landrovers, mercedies, porshe's, lamborgini's, ferarri's, custom sand rails, hot rods, rad rods, muscle cars. But I would have to make a new thread for that.

Vinnies the man. Well said. BUT I would like to add one small thing. I've worked on highend cylinder heads that doesnt make me a better machinist. Let your work do the talking. Step back and look at the big picture, do what makes you happy, screw the ones that disagree. You're not likely to meet anyone from the forum so who cares what they think. Im building my car not the forum, dont get me wrong I need help time to time but its my car at the end of the day.

Ultima GTR i fixed the tail on after the owner forgot to latch the tail and took it for a spin, i also reshot the front end later because of rock chips, my dad then did a new cam and valvetrain and fuel injection system. Unbelievably fast ride, then owner then sold it for an Enzo, and got tired of that and got a new 458

I drive $300,000 combines and $250,000 tractors every day where I work.  In Vinnies words,  think I pee'd the farthest.  lol. (I can supply pics if needed).

Guys lets drop this.  Tom and his son are obviously proud of their work and that's fine.  But threads like this just feed into  I hate to see get started on this forum.  We are above this.

Please take the following as constructive critisizm.  I'm glad you guys are on the board and am SURE you are both very talented with wrenches.  I think what is going on here is that some folks on the board are tired of the bragging and back patting going on by yourself and Tom.  Its good you are proud of your work and your rides, hell I'm proud of my pile of junk and its just an old T-bird.  It just gets a little old seeing it day after day.  It does seem like you all feel like you are "gracing" us with your presence since you do work on higher profile stuff than most of the rest of us.

I'm hopeful all this BS will calm down (on both sides) and the drama can go away.  I like this place because it is for the most part drama free.  A couple of these type of threads always emerge this time of year.  Its winter, working on cars has slowed up for many, and we are all cranky and ready for spring.

I agree Vin.  When I 1st saw this thread (and posted the "mussel car" thing) I seriously thought it was a thread for them to show their stuff off.  The mussel car comment was my attempt at humor from another thread where the word muscle car was mispelled.

I will stop commenting on this topic now as my attempts to smooth things over are probably not going to work.  Its hard to convey sarcasm, humor, etc over the internet.

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?!?!  lol

It's kind of tough being who Tom and Tom are in a community like this, or rather ENTERING a community like this. Try to show a valiant res-uh-may and you receive backlash and get deemed a braggart. Why? I was just trying to show them I know what I'm talking about! This is a very tight-knit place, small enough where everyone knows everyone and what they're all about, if someone was to get burned on a sale or purchase of a part or vehicle from another member, everyone takes notice and if there is a truly dishonest party, that member will probably be shunned and maybe even asked to leave or banned pending resolution of the problem. This has been discussed before and I think we're all real proud of this "security", this "comfort zone" we have here. So a newcomer that shakes things up by appearing high-and-mighty (whether by intent or consequence) is naturally going to meet resistance by some, maybe not all members.

We're a diverse group as close as we are to one another. Some of us are really open-minded and ignore elements like this for what seems like forever. Others need to see some proof of character. And everything in between. Beau got pretty defensive and fought back, I like to think of him as an old-school founding father kinda guy, in a Clint-Eastwood-Gran-Torino-Get-Off-My-Lawn way. :rollin: Might he have overreacted? You could argue that. But he's got that protective personality. Can't blame anyone for feeling threatened if they really do feel threatened. I try to see the best in everyone and it's gotten me burned more than once. People like Beau scold me for being naive and too trusting LOL. Toby Keith once said "Livin' in a cruel world, pays to be a mean girl"

Just my naive and subjective observation. We are very welcoming to new members, anyone else interested in these cars is greatly needed and given kudos. But when something seems uncomfortable with the newcomer, hey, we scrutinize because we love our group so much and don't want anything bad to happen to it. Human nature strikes again.

Tom, I was not meaning to laugh at you. If I had done the same mistake and somebody posted a pic of a car with a mussel on it I would have been rollin in laughter just the same. We have had some difficulties on this site and I believe we have gotten over them, or I hope we have. Sometimes it is best to agree to disagree. I mean no ill will towards you. I do not question your abilities, or where you work. I believe you are a nice man with way better than average automotive abilities. As for where you work, it is none of my business, nor anybody else's. If I have made you feel insulted again, I wish to apologize once again.

So, are you all done now?

As I have said TWICE now, Tom is more than welcome to make a thread about any projects he wishes.  My main beef was thread hijacking with pics of non-related things.

I figured shame's original intention was to not poke fun, but the recent history of posts directed at the Toms did cast it in a questionable light.

Anyway, finish it up and move on.

naww,, i think that its fortunate we have a bunch of smart people around who know lots of things to share.
He's smart and does know about a bunch of different stuff.  Im not too irritated with him, i actually like the high level of detail he offers from time to time.
ive dodged a few debates simply out of not wanting to drag on.

i like him , one of those types thats seen a lot and will offer any advise or expertise at the drop of a hat asking nothing in return.. a good american actually.

The sad thing is, this is the third or fourth time him and his son have started  on this forum. I only poked fun after being attacked personally, even after defending tom several times. If him and his kid want to play the victim, again, and come back in a couple years, then I guess that's the way it will be. The only reason he won't give out thename of his shop, is the same reason he plays e-thug on every forum he is on. He has something to hide.

I myself am pretty well over this, but I've got this point to make first. First, I agree with Chuck about Tom the Elder occasionally posting things other than the topic at hand in certain threads...other than that, I think he's got some cool stories and valuable info...no issues with with him.

Now....bragging about "million dollars cars this, that, and there" just makes me want to :beatyoass: someone. Not because I'm jealous or insecure...but I can't really stand a braggart. So much so, that I deleted my OWN thread about my Sport, since I felt it was pretty much self indulgent. What I DO have posted is merely putting a bit of closure to an issue which turned out to be a minor fault of mine, and not the part I bought form a member here.

So I checked out that Ultima GTR....thing. for 25 grand, give or take the boat ride here, you can have one, less an engine or running gear.

I'd rather have a Daytona Coupe.

Now, I spend some fair time on a forum, where folks build some high powered sports cars....in the 2+ years I've been there, I've seen not ONE sentence of anything the likes of Tom jr has posted here.

I'm not trying to keep this stupid argument going....everyone has their opinion. I'm sure Tom jr has some good skills, else he wouldn't be in the position he's in.

All that aside, I've got no issue with the man, other than his pen 15iness when someone confronts them over some issue. I'd probably overlook it if he was a regular contributor to questions in one of the tech areas...even if it's something simple like helping a new person look for info for 5 lug axles, or what cam will work in an E6 head engine...

Anyway, I'm done here. Peace to the Toms. You guys have some cool cars. :D

(Just so you know, I've helped a friend of mine work on his Porsche..granted, it's only a 944...but it's still made in Germany.:flip:)

I don't know if he's hiding anything, and I don't care. I have posted 2 major apologies to him and have had no responce. I know he has seen the second one for sure. I spotted him on the thread after I posted it. He won't even tell me to f#@K off. He has posted some pretty nasty things and has not even bothered with an apology. No apology for cluttering up other peoples threads with his un-related builds. My last apology, seen up above, was for having a sense of humor about something someone else has posted. If I post a reply to something that proves I'm right, he ignores it and jumps to something else that he feels I am wrong about. I believe he is just rude. I am done apologizing. I am done defending my posts. I have had it with his lashing out at people for not agreeing with everything he says. In Tom's words, Thank You and Goodbye.

Chrome i do apologize for being a dick at times. Thats me. But if anyone had a problem and i could help i would be the first to help. That is me. Around my town i do help people that are without jobs and do repairs for FREE. That is me. But i found that forums have clicks. Not saying you. And if getting info is the bottom line i am their to help weather right or wrong i try. God knows i have made mistakes on issues. But as i posted things i have accomplished over the years it may be i am an old dude. So as i spent hours helping and searching through ALL- DATA to help certain members i truly enjoy doing that. So if having a discussion and or correcting a wrong statement is TABOO. Should one let that PASS. I have as you posted many ASE certs. But once a person posts his accomplishments their seems like some PUSH BACK. Example LS motors. I know tthis is a ford site but no one in their right mind can bash a proven engine like this. That is the difference. As far as the shop goes i never tell people where it is. But the photos i post are all my work and if you doubt that it,s Ok i understand. So Thanks and i am Sorry under different cirspoogestances we gould probably have a good talk together in person. I will be at Carlisle in summer at the FORD nationals as usual. If you can make it i will be the guy with the MIDNIGHTER. 1988 TC two tone gray over black. Hope to see you if you can make it. Once again Sorry for being a dick. I owe you that. You do deserve an apology so i truly am sorry.  You see i love Fords also. Thanks.

Just for the record i had a 2.3 T Cougar sold it years ago. That was a fun car.

Thunder sport I'm done with the bragging, but fwiw we have done a few Enzos, carrera GT's ( replaced a door on one, at cost it was 25 grand fir just the door!) and one of our biggest customers has several cars worth over a million, he has several vintage race ferraris, a few dusenbergs, and a bunch of other exoctics, but like me and my dad said for many reasons I can't plaster pics of the cars or the shop up, and I have never done it on any site, we don't have a website or advertise anywhere because with the cars we have in the shop we really can't have people know where it is.
Let's stop the childish  on the site, me and my dad are die hard car guys just like some of you. Even though my dad doesn't drink I'm bringin a trunk load of cold ones to Carlisle and your all welcome to come hang and shoot the shiznit
