honestly, i would contact a performance shop and ask their opinion.. right off the bat, they're going to say custom grind, but ask them what 'off the shelf' cam would work best.. a lot of performance shops have guys in-house that really know their stuff when it comes to cam choice.. i'm starting to get the hang of it, but i still consult with a friend of my dad's before i make a decision

Which heads? And whta are your actual spring specs? Right now I would say stock h.o. cam, because it works well as a blower cam, and if your using stock heads and don't know the specs on your springs, your just guessing what you can and can't do. Just saying good to 500 lift doesn't actually tell you anything about the springs.

Also, nitrous and a supercharger are going to put a lot of extra strain on a stock block. Might be better off getting an aftermarket block, so you don't have to worry about it breaking in half.

I would love nothing more than to go out and buy a dart or other block but I just cant swing the cost. I have a pretty much rebuilt stock 306 block with forged internals. The heads are engine works basicly al GT40's. The guy that I got the heads from said the springs were set up for .550 lift I am using a typhoon style intake. The current motor in the bird is shot and I have all this stuff already sitting around the shop and am just wanting to get a motor together with what I have and still be a little bit of a kick in the pants untill I can afford to start the next round.

Oh ya even with the blower I want to keep this thing around 400 to 450 HP at the flywheel so I dont split the block.

Need more info. What sort of pressure do the springs have on the seat? How about at .550 lift? What does the head flow? At what valve lift does the head flow start to drop off? Daily driver or weekend toy?  If you don't know these things, it's pretty  hard to pick a suitable cam.

A stock cam and D1SC will easily make enough power to split an xxx block!  There is certainly more power in a custom or aftermarket cam, though it can increase the chance of a block replacement.  Ask me how I know and I don't have near the blower you have...

To answer your question.  F 303 cam.  Its old tech but you can find for $100 used $150 new.  Like other people stated a custom grind would produce more power.  F cams sound cool, if that is your thing.  Im doing the 351 turbo swap.  The F cam is abit small for the 351.  But I decide to stick with cleanup E7 heads.

Good luck,

Travis

P.S.  what are you doing for engine management?

I have decided on the comp Cams 35-552-8 off the shelf should have a little bit of a lopey idle and still give me some lower end for everyday driving
