Title: Any GM techs in the house?
Post by: tirefryr on January 09, 2012, 10:27:21 PM
I'm trying to find out if I can buy a key fob and program it to work on my Buick, but I don't know how to tell if it has a keyless entry module.  Thanks in advance!

google might be your best friend with this.  type in exactly what you want to do, year make model and directions in how to do so.  learned many things from google search

I've done the Google thing with no definitive answer.

there should be SOMETHING on the car, somewhere that'll tell you whether it has it or not..

You'd think our resident LS* GM nut swinger would have had this handled.

Is this really necessary on a daily basis ?

Not daily, no. Really depends on whenst and how often the opportunity presents itself. :hick:

you are forgetting that it is a GM car and there is no definite reason for anything...

Yep, the Buick part is the issue.  I joined some Buick forums a while ago and as you can imagine, not too many of farts post on the forums.  It pretty much only has any activity in the Road Master section.

Too much?

A key fob for a buick clearly relates to LSX motors...

Op Call your local gm dealer with the vin, they will be able to tell you if you have keyless entry

Thanks for the helpful posts.  Please take your childish issues elsewhere.  If you have nothing useful to add to my thread, do not post in it.

:rollin:

I'll gladly discuss all the dynamics of my project car when you tell me what ya got and how much you have into it. I'll then draw the line between the 2 and show you how insignificant and irrelevant you or your opinion are to any of it.

Perhaps you could be a bit more specific on what you are looking for. Like, what make/model/year car exactly are you having trouble with?

My house is full of "GM nut swinging" machines, tell ya what, you tell me how much you spent on your Frpp motor and 6 speed and how much power it makes, and we can compare it to the price of a used 4th gen ls1 and a cam kit. I'm surprised a big shot like you with all your post and "know how" has to Buy a motor and not build it

Ah, You aren't another one of these guys that thinks the end all be all is to stick an LSwhatever into everything? They are great motors (said it many a time). Too bad GM doesn't make a chassis that isn't too disgusting to own/drive, or too  expensive to own (Z06,ZR-1, CTS-V). Other than that, see post 15 ;0)
