Ive seen a couple of people on here who have mesh wheels on their cougars. I have a set of mesh wheels on right now...but they're for a JDM car and aren't the right bolt patern, so im looking to buy a set of the mesh saleen wheels.

these are what i have now.
I found the gold set below on ebay...but it appears that the mesh sits deeper than the black style below, which is the style i've seen before...i dont know why there would be two different types of the same wheel...do you think if i get the gold ones that it will offset the wheels too much?

just a heads up, ARE and BBS make/made similar wheels, but they have a lug cover plate
whats a lug cover plate
basically a center cap
okay...i just wanted to know if anyone else had these rims...i wasnt aware that there was another version of it with a deeper offset..didnt know if it was going to be a noticeable difference in stance
Are the ones you have 16" or 15"? The ones I have are made by Riken and are 16"
Those wheels were manufactured by ARE. I had a set of them on my '88 XR7, which now reside on another forum member's '88 XR7. They fit well with no backspacing or offset issues. Beware the centercaps, though; they are snap-in and have a propensity to get loose. Here they are on my '88 XR7:

@ those pics.....*sigh*.....lol
i finally found the name of the wheels...idk what ARE is or where to find them...but the exact same wheels are called enkei 92. I bought them....they have a 4 inch backspace and stick like an inch out from my front fender :S. The ones that you have, and the ones i see on all the other pictures of mustangs...dont stick out. the ones youve got look like the mesh sits closer to the outer lip then mine...so im guessing you have a 5" backspace?
it would help a lot of i could actually get some help from a wheel shop or something, for the specs on the series of wheels....ive just put out 400 dollars on this set thinking they were right...but apparently theres variations of the wheels that i wasnt aware of...seeing as all i have to go by is a bunch of pictures on forums. It doesnt make sense to me..because the pictures i see have the same deep design as my 4" ones, but they fit right. Anyone have an idea where i can find ones that will fit?
If they look good in the rear, then at least you have two sets of rear wheels...just need to find a pair for the front. :hick:
How about these? http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/pts/2756130830.html
Not sure if this will help any, but I just got a catalog from Late Model Restoration in the mail and they have these rims listed for sale. I can't seem to find them on the website though
theyre probably the new enkei 92's..the mesh is the same but the lip is different
ARE= American Racing Equipment. Also Hayashi, BBS, Enkei and Riken all manufactured versions of these "basketweave" "mesh" "Saleen" wheels in the mid 1980's, in 4 lug and 5 lug and 15" and 16". BMW and Datsun used versions of these also with different bolt patterns and down to 14" rims.
Also the Corvette and Trans Am GTA used these but of course were 5 lug, along with Lincoln Mark VI which were 5 lug also. I believe most of the "basketweave" wheels similar to whats been pictured in this post are all 2 piece design.
