I drew these up some time ago and had them made. I've been waiting for a while, but now they are done. I wanted something different for my Cobra intake instead of the same old "Cobra" badge that everyone has. I'll probably go with the FPR design and store the FPV design away in a safe place. No, not installed yet. I'm waiting til after the paint and engine detailing is done......again......What do you guys think?

NICE! i like the FPR better.. i like how it says '5.0 GT40-P'
They are adhesive backed badges and should look good under the hood. Best part. ALL MINE. Made for MY Sport. After I picked them up, the Sport seemed really happy and decided to show an '04 Stang the tail lights. Hey, they gotta learn. LOL. All I gotta do is show a little love. She knows.
I am a Ford man and like to think I'm somewhat knowledgable on cars, but what does FPR stand for? I assume FPV is Ford Performance Vehicles but have never heard of FPR. Is this before the days of SVT?
FPR's Australian, like FPV.
Ford Performenace Racing, its basically the 'Racing Arm' of FPV.
A team thats run in the V8 Supercars.
I really like the FPV one, i think the font used on the 5.0 seals the deal for me.
but both have come up really nice.
Yep, FPR is Ford Performance racing. Australian. I like them both but will, as I stated, probably use the FPR emblem until I maybe get bored and swap them. I may have a different one made for the Explorer upper I'm going to polish. Something different for it so I can swap the uppers when I want to. i have a hard time with intake manifolds.
The first step is admitting you have a problem :rollin:
Hi. My name is Vinnie....I have an intake manifold problem.
:rollin:   progress!
I'm thinking about an SSI intake.....not really. Just kidding....or am I?
I like the FPV better. Personal opinion of course. Vinnie you always have something secret to show to us after a long antited wait! The one thing I love about our cars, is that they are known by the model: Thunderbird, Cougar, Mustang. They are known for the name and emblem, not as a Ford or Mercury. There are very few Mercury Badges on my Cougar, and a few Ford Badges on my Thunderbird, but I want to remove the Manufacturer emblems and keep them as the Model they are and represent. I think that's something very unique for our cars. Plus I like a modified stock look, where you have to really know the car to see the differences.
Fpv ............... Ftw !!!!!!!
OMG! You're changing manifolds AGIAN! Im glad you dont treat your woman like you treat your intakes. Really you didnt keep the trick-flow? Was it looks or performance?
I also want to remove my badges except for the cougar emblems on the grill and behind the 1/4 windows.
On the exterior, pretty much all of the emblems are factory...ish. I replaced the trunk lid "Thunderbird" script with the '05 Thunderbird script, and removed the dealer emblem and installed my "Hurst Equipped" badge (which may not go back on after the re-re-paint). The rest are as Ford intended. I don't have any Blue Ovals on the car. Don't need them. If someone doesn't know Thunderbird is a Ford product, well, there's nothing I can do for them. I don't like badges on the inside. I know what I'm driving and don't need a reminder. I can't explain it, but I have a method to my ways. Under the hood, my own "theme" as it is. I see "Cobra" intakes a lot, and the same old badges on them all. I wanted something different, unique to my own car, yet factory appearing. For me, it works.
I also like the FPV emblem, but the FPR emblem seems a tad bit more aggressive, so it goes on. The other will be tucked away in case I decide to swap them some time.
I swapped the Cobra intake on about a month or so ago. The Trick Flow was a nice piece, but I did lose some low end torque. It had it in the mid and upper range though. I found an NOS Cobra intake (not the Chinese made), for a wicked good price and bought it. Only because I did like the way the GT-40 and Explorer performed, and with the clear intentions of having these plaques made for it. If I had to use the Cobra badge, I wasn't using the intake. I know, crazy thinking, but it's how I work. LOL. The Trick Flow intake was enormous as well. Very little room to work around the intake area with it. I liked it, but don't miss it. It went to a good home, I got the Cobra intake and also had a good amount of money left afterwards. The Sport is still running very strong, and I'll be swapping lers soon, paint, then as funds allow, recover the seats, tint the windows, and a few other small pieces.
I want to quiet the car down a little.A tiny bit more "sleeper" thing going on. Most of the Stang guys around here see the car and want to play a little, but the sound has scared a few off when they pull up close. So, I want to tone it down a little bit for a better element of surprise. A nice deep burble would be nice....til I pres the skinny pedal and open her up.
NO.
You want a DOWNS BOXXXX INTAKE. Just a big 'ol tig-welded BOX on top of your lower manifold.
Probably a great intake, but seriously lacks in visual character.
If you want torque, stay away from box intakes. The cobra will be great for torque. I was looking at the comp cams intake box that replaces the stock upper, I asked around at the local mustang shops and they said its a great intake for upper rpms but you'd notice a big loss in torque. I'd like to get the SSI intake but they're pretty pricey (about $550 w/o TB). I think I'll stay with my explorer.
i saw an SSI for $400 shipped. If I get it, I could sell my Cobra and end up with very little invested into the SSI, but, They don't impress me much. I've heard more negative than positive about them. I'm happy with the Cobra.....for now.
What negative have you heard? I've never heard any + or - about them, I just like the way they look. Im too cheap to spend that kind of money.
I've head many stories, but haven't experienced them. Look it up on the Corral and Stangnet. The topic is well covered. I like what I have for now. Once the Explorer upper is done, and visually modified, I may use it. We'll see what happens. I have some ideas for it. Until then, it sits in a box.
