Got my t'bird fired up tonight but only after realizing I had a neutral safety switch issue to chase down. Had to put a jumper between two holes in the four wire plug that goes onto the AOD case just above the shifter linkage. It was two holes closest together on one side. After that she fired right up.
The only plug on my T5 is a two wire plug that goes into the top of the case. How do these adapt or what do I need to do to solve this problem?? Thanks!

To add to Tom's post: that plug has 4 wires, can't remember the colors, but two of those wires are for the reverse lights, the other 2 are for the neutral switch. I had an issue when I swapped my T5 into my Sport (AOD to T5, same as you) and I couldn't get the engine to start afterward. I didn't have a T5 harness, and was too impatient, lazy, etc to look for one and wait for it, so I simply looked up the wires for the safety, and spliced them together. Be aware that if you do this however...your car can be started in gear without the clutch pedal depressed. To me it's second nature, as I learned to drive in an old Jeep.
Anyway...good luck...and if you want the harness...there's almost always someone with one for sale on the corral, or if you can catch someone here parting a TC, you could pick one up here as well.

Awesome.....thanks guys!
Dan, do you have any balancing issues? I have an XTO aluminum flywheel with a 50 oz weight and have all sorts of vibration? The flywheel is for a mustang GT which is high output and I'm guessing that means the balancing will be an issue. If you don't have this problem, would you mind telling me what setup you have?
I have a 50oz flywheel also but my entire motor is from a 1988 Mustang GT so it should match. It was only fired for a couple seconds each time we had it running.....it was moving around a little bit but nothing that was very concerning since I don't have all the vaccuum lines plugged, timing not set and generally not even close to tuned so it was running rough. I did see your thread and you had me worrying if I put the right flywheel on it since I have a 28oz and 50oz and you mentioned yours was jumping around with the 50oz on it.
Im pretty sure all the 5.0's from 1982 later, were all 50oz balanced.
I talked to somebody at a local performance shop yesterday and he said the weight must not be set right. I push in on the clutch and it still vibrates like crazy. Therefor it has to be the engine or flywheel. The engine ran fine before but I have taken the smog pump off and accompanying pluming, and I did install new plugs and wires and headman shorties. The O2 sensors are plugged into the wiring harness but the sensor ends are duct-taped in the plastic bags they cam in tucked behind the engine. I'm going to have somebody put on a custom exhaust system but want to wait the the transmission issue is solved. The car isn't missing at all so I'm left with thinking its the flywheel. The guy at the performance shop said to bring in the AOD flywheel and take new aluminum one in and he'll balance the aluminum one in to match the AOD flywheel for about $80 and that should fix the problem. I hope to get that done in the next week or two.
Don't rule the pressure plate...even with the pedal to the floor, it still rotates with the engine, and the clutch disc is directly connected to the input shaft...could it be you have a bent fork on the pressure plate?
Is there a wiring harness that will allow me to connect the wiring harness on the transmission and the one coming from the car? I do have two wiring harness's on the transmission and two from the car. I was able to connect one however the other harness on the transmission does match the other one on the car. My car starts and runs and the reverse lights work however I don't have cruise control, brake lights or a working speedometer. The wiring harness on the transmission has four wires all in a line and I believe the remaining harness coming from the car has just two wires. The car is on all four wheels otherwise I'd take a pic and post what I have to work with.
The plug for the VSS should just plug in I was able to on a auto to t5 in a T.C their might be a jumper you need to remove I can't remember but memory says there was a connector in there. I had to make a plug for the reverse lights. I jumped the neutral safety switch. I looked and and no luck on a harness, Jangus just finished parting a couple of cars maybe he'll chime in.
I got hooked up what I can and now I don't have a neutral safety switch or brake lights but I do have a speedometer, cruise control and reverse lights. I don't have any lose wires and the harnesses from the car are connected to the transmission. Does anybody have any idea why the brake lights (turning signals and reverse lights do work) and the NSS won't work. The NSS isn't as big of a deal but I have to get the brake lights worked out.
I don't know if you checked the brake light switch, for power in and power out when pushed?
