New motor, stock 5.0 with cam and ported trick flows along with what i think is a 64mm. ;)

I want a turbo'd v8!
lol i think everybody does
bad ass man thats all i got to say. im thinking of putting a turboed 351 windsor in my 1993 thunderbird
Looks like the battery is going in the trunk. Where did you score this setup?
nice! now where's the passenger side turbo? :giggle: battery relocation is going to be a must, for sure
looks like it has 42lb injectors and an Aeromotive regulator too.
If I had a turbo V8, I'd stick the battery on the roof if I had too!! ;)
So true.
I sure hope thats not a stock block
From the Original Post it seems so. That motor is doomed a quick fate haha. A turbo'd 5.0 is a really cool idea, but no one ever seems to pull it off quite right. I want a roots style blower for mine. I love the sound of a turbo spooling, but the whine of a supercharger is soooo shagy!
Me too, I really want a Kenny Bell. They're $3K. After I get the exhaust, TB, and rearend done I'm going to start saving for a blower.
he'll be safe if he keeps the boost semi-low (low to my standards at least.. about 6-8psi).. depending on what is actually done, it should push around 425-475hp, making it less pr0ne to die a quick death.. notice i said quick, it'll still be short lived lol
I would love a Kenne Bell. Problem is, even after all the suspension work I'm doing, I still have around $10k to put into the motor I'm building. Yes I said $10K, and yes I said the motor
I'm building. Haha.
I've got Caster/Camber Plates, CHE Control Arms, Rear Gears and Trac-Lok, Subframe Connectors, Pinch Weld Braces, E-Brake Cable, Rear Disc Conversion, and 5 lug Conversion to all get done. I have alot of the parts, just gotta get them all installed.
that's an easy number to hit when you have the resources and knowledge to build a top notch motor.. if it wasn't for my tax id number and the ability to buy direct or from a wholesaler, i'd have roughly $6500 into my 408 in my capri, not including the cost of the dart block.. luckily i got my block DIRT cheap used from a local machine shop and roughly $41-4300 in parts for the rest of it.. i really wish i would have bought clevland head for it though.. maybe when i re-open the shop and start making bank again :)
the numbers through a 5 speed where 434hp so thats pretty close to 500 to the fly wheel. It is a stock block to.
is that a custon kit? or a company made it? i would love to go turbo or procharger but more turbo lol good luck with it
i believe it is a kit but i am not sure who made it. ONLY running five pounds of boost he made 398 to the wheels through a tko600. I can go higher in boost but for now i am probably going to leave it, I am still confident that i will be well into the elevens with this setup accept it is going to be blow through carb setup.
take it from me, as i have been there with the blow through setup.. DON'T unless you're going to run a wideband A/F gauge.. without it, tuning is a BITCH (sorry chuck :p ) and if you're not carb savvy, it's going to be a complete nightmare for you.. simple jet changes aren't going to be the only tuning adjustments you'll be making on an (almost) weekly basis
what amount of boost was it pushing when it made +/- 500 at the flywheel? if i were you, i'd take his psi from that dyno pull and drop it 2-3psi to let that block live a little longer.. i'd also recommend saving your pennies for a DART block, it'll be the absolute best choice of your life in terms of running a boosted 5.0
thanks for the suggestions I have heard all the issues with the blow through setup and i know what all has to be modified to the carb, But i am carb savvy and i am not efi savvy. The boost was at five ponds when he drove it, That seens like a safe place to leave it.
i wasn't really efi savvy either, until i got into F.A.S.T. and mega squirt.. both are awesome in my book
