We are doing a build for a guy in our shop that puts together a convertible fox body mustang and a twin turbo 1,000 horsepower small block. That being said the guy is in the military and is having to move to Germany, we took the "old" turbo motor out and original wiring harness plus cut two new holes in the engine bay for the twins before my dad had to cart the body away for a seven thousand dollar paint job. So there is a stock bore 5.0 turbo motor with ported tfs heads on the ground that the guy has to get rid of including a parts car behind the shop, so instead of charging him labor and storage for both cars while he was over seas why not just ask for the motor and the car. The plan is to put that exact motor in my car with blow through setup or without turbo at all instead of the original idea of a 5.0 with ported gt40's and e303 cam. The turbo motor was said to have made 500 hp to the rear wheels but you know how that is. Tell me what you guys think?
if it's a stock block, 500fwhp is definitely on borrowed time.. but i don't believe numbers unless i see a dyno sheet lol
What size turbo's and what block? You can split a stock block n/a.
I have a friend that's been running a stock short block turbo 5.0L for years. It makes 567rwhp, goes into the 9's, is flogged on often and daily driven. Basically everything that everyone says cannot be done, this motor and car HAVE done.
sounds like he has a mexican block.. and no, that isn't a joke.. lol the mexican block is the strongest of all OEM ford 5.0 blocks
This should be posted anytime someone talks about a stock block lasting under big power. It's like vegas, you may win a little, but on a long enough timeline, the house always wins.
Physics.

woody is a very, very smart man when it comes to ford motors.. if i ever gave up (highly unlikely) building motors, i'd be buying from him for sure
The block is stock and stock rotating assembly, but i think it is the rotating assembly with the forged pistons. I believe the turbo is a 64mm. Like i said before it has the heads to make the power with the ported tfs heads.
We have had our share of cracked stock blocks, we had a 331 in a 66 stang that we ran a 150 shot through and cracked on the first pass. Need less to say we took it out disassembled it took the main caps off and dropped the block on the concrete ground and it split right in half, it was one of the most ridiculous things i had ever seen!
Well the deal is a go the motor is mine it even came with the old inter cooler lol
That reminds me i might have a set of mac long tubes for sale i will let you know
