Title: Who has sequential tail lights?
Post by: vinnietbird on November 07, 2011, 11:11:30 PM
Who has them, and where did you get them? Can they be adjusted for speed? I MAY have to replace my sequentials, and need a good company that sells them, and if possible, sequential speed control.

I have a set from thundercat electronix. Mine had little screws on them that I could adjust the sequence speed. I don't have my bird anymore, so if you'd like to buy my kit, it'd be interested in selling.

The kit was from a member on here, a good quality set.

The Cool Cats website has a link to this page (http://"http://www.thuntek.net/cougars_unlimited/ts1promo.htm"), but I don't have any idea if the product is any good.

JCP, if Vinnie isn't interested in your kit I might be.  I don't have sequentials currently but I've always kinda wanted 'em.  How much you asking?

Is the speed adjustable? I don't like them really fast.

Hey Cougarman, thanks for the info.  I am checking out the site.  Just out of curiosity, how come you didn't get the STS-1 (the universal kit)?  Looks like it is the same price as the STS-1M but maybe doesn't require as much splicing?

It looks like the STS-1M is a plug and play for Stangs.

I bought mine from Carmen. After 4 years I got it installed. Took me a few hours(I wired one power input wrong) and they work great. It killed me to dremel out the taillight housing. I seriously started to cry. My hazards don't work correctly I don't think. I need to check them again.

I have a set from Carm as well. They've been on my car for a few years now. I actually bought a parts lot a couple of years ago from a guy and there was a kit in with the parts. I'm keeping it as a spare since Carm doesn't make them anymore.

Carm, you should make them again. Sell them through me, it would be cheaper, and you can have the profits. I just want one free kit.

So I took the Cat out tonight and drove it around, and made a few videos of the exhaust. While I was re-watching the videos I noticed that Carm's sequential kit makes the brake lights sequence when they illuminate, the speed is very fast and almost unnoticeable. I was rewinding and happened to notice only one bulb on each side lit up. I'll be honest I started giggling with exitement! I LOVE MY CAR!!!!!!

Is the speed controlled? Meaning, can you adjust the speed?

the speed of the sequence is not adjustable. You may be able to write the guy and ask him to make a set that is a little slower. But witht the standard kit, the only thing adjustable is how long the blinker stays on, which is controlled by whatever flasher unit you use. If you look at my video, at the part where I step on the brakes, you can see how long it actually takes. My flasher is a tiny bit fast, so the third light doesn't quite get a full flash when I turn on the blinker. You'll just need a slower flasher than what I'm using.

HOPEFULLY JPC747 will get with me about his kit. We're missing each other some how when we try to contact one another.

I also have the Cougars Unlimited kit. Have had the kit in the car since 1997, no issues whatsoever. Very easy to install.

i had carmens set in my car back in 2004, had issues with the speed on them. i think i over adjusted. repair the wiring in my car after realizing i only had 9volts going to the brake lights. carm got me a new kit. worked great for 2 years, then the inner circuit on one died.
i just took em out till i was told about we electric products. got there kit in 2007 i think.
been happy with them that i even put them in my daily driver tc.
http://www.webelectricproducts.com kit's speed is controlled by the flasher. and it automatically adjusts to the speed of the flasher

I have a kit from Carm installed on my Cougar. It's not too fast for me. The only thing I've noticed is that it looks like the bulb isn't bright enough or the chrome inside the housing has dulled. The outermost light just seems dull. I'll post a pic of The Sequentials, and a link to my video where you see the brake lights sequence when lighting up.
