I haven't figured out the electrical issue yet. Still can't figure those two lights out.............

On the topic at hand. I'd figure they are on so someone could see the car while you're in the back seat making out with the honey of your choice.

Parking lights also double as running lights.

 
My motorcycle has a park position on the switch. It turns on just the taillight when it's parked. I guess it would be useful if you park in a pitch black place so you can find the bike, but I've never parked anywhere I couldn't see my bike. :giggle:

Parking lights are also called marker lights. I thought they were to help other drivers see where the corners of your car are located better at night.
