will the mark VII parts work in an 87 TC for the 5 lug swap? i know most people use SN95 stang parts (as i've done with my blue TC), but there's a mark in my local u-pull it and i can get the spindles/calipers/rotors for both sides for under 50 bucks. i'm not really concerned about a brake upgrade, just want 5 lug since the factory wheel choice is MUCH better than what ford 4 lug cars have to offer

hopefully thats of some help :p
perfect  i'll just buy new rotors in that case.. at least the mark in the junkyard will still be my axle donor lol
Be aware that some, if not most of the Ford 5 lug wheels will not fit using the original center cap without some grinding on either the hub snout, or the wheels themselves...
I've got a set of Mark 7 fronts that will go on my Stang someday...and will probably only ever have the Linc wheels bolted to 'em...
thanks for the heads up.. been looking for cobra r's.. any fitment issues with those and the mark 7 spindles?
They will fit, but like Thundersport302 said...
was wondering if anyone had experience with cobra R's on the mark parts
Center caps won't fit with the Mk VII parts. Bullitts and Cobra r for sure won't. Mach 1 will, dunno about the rest.
meh.. figures.. the wheels i DON'T like will fit, but the 1's i want, won't.. lol i'll just take them to a machine shop and have them milled instead of hacking them to fit
Well the main problem is the dust cap sticks out too far so the center cap won't fit. The other problem is the hub needs to be turned down to fit in the wheels.
Here's an old pic I have from my old Cougar w/ Mk VII hubs. You can see the dust cap sticking out.
hmm.. with the dust cap dented in a little will the cobra r centers fit? i know, you can't dent them too much or else it'll rub against the spindle snout.. and that's what i would have milled, the hub.. that way if i ever decided to swap wheels, i wouldn't have to visit the machine shop again.. if they have to be milled too much, i could just have the wheels milled a bit.. i don't believe in doing this kind of stuff with a grinder.. lol
I thought about denting them, but you would have to literally crush the cap to get the center caps to fit. There really isn't all that much room under the dust cap, with the spindle and bearing and nut.
hmm.. the center caps are plastic, right? i could just heat the surface up a little and bubble them out a little to fit over the dust cap
I was using the Mark VII front rotors for a long time. I turn down the center hub on a brake lathe, I use the attachment for the drum brakes, pretty easy. if I remember correctly, I had removed the wheel studs, not sure if I had to, to do the machining, or just because I was putting the long 3 " studs in. as far as the centercap, may I suggest a small spacer, maybe 1/4 or 3/8 inch, might give you enough to fit the cap. I used those rotors on my racecar so I was never concerned about the cap.
i'm not really a fan of wheel spacers to be honest, i don't trust them.. plus i don't like my wheels being even with or sticking out past the lip on the fender on anything that's not a 4x4 truck lol
Or you could just swap to SN95 stuff, and not have to deal with the hassle...lol
no SN95's in the junkyards around here.. a few mark 7's for rear axle donors, but hubs/rotors i will buy new.. the milling really isn't a hassle and the center cap i'll find a solution for (or use my idea of heating and 'bubbling' them out).. doing the SN95 swap is more of a hassle.. i'm not really interested in bigger brakes and 2-4 piston calipers.. the stock calipers with drilled/slotted rotors will be more than enough for what i plan for this car
