Title: Anybody here know to convert distributor wiring to use coil packs?
Post by: 32VFoxBird on November 05, 2011, 03:03:38 PM
Got a '88 mustang 2.3 with a bad head and picked up a '92 motor with trans for cheap. Heard it can be done, but can't find any info. Thanks guys!

Dunno, You may need the PCM and/or wiring harness for the later Stang...

I'd just use the '88 dist in the newer engine and not connect the intake side spark plugs...

I have the computer, wiring, air box, MAF sensor, and IRCM, but it's not a direct "plug-in". Distributor can't be used because the intake manifold is too large, and single plug intake has a different bolt pattern and ports to use on the dual plug head.

Then you need to compare the '88 & '92 wiring diagrams and determine how to hook it up... If you aren't good with wiring, can't find instructions, or have a buddy that can wire it up, then you're stuck...
